The hazard lights will turn on while driving, and or while the vehicle is parked, thus draining the battery. The button to turn them on and or off is a "pressure sensitive" button which fails from the swelling of heat and or moisture. This is a major issue as the vehicle can't be driven now since the hazards just turn on and off.
Head lights go out while driving at night hi or low beam auto or manual it does not make any diff .
About a year and a half ago I had a problem in which my headlights and highbeams would turn on but then shut off. If you turned them off and back on, they would come on but go out again. I paid to fix this problem. It's now happening again. It'll be the second time in two years with the same issue. I've searched online and others with the same year car are having the same exact problem. There's no recall listed on this but it's a safety issue that keeps happening. The date of the second incident is 12/5/23.
My car will turn on the lights in the middle of the night, without anybody in it. Battery is continuously dead, even after replacing with a new battery. The alternator and starter have been checked and are good. The passenger door ajar is always on. When I lock the car with my key fob it honks twice and the lights inside the car remain on. The car will die while driving it, when I am at a stop light. The engine light will come on and the only warning that appears is passenger door ajar. Other Ford vehicles have a recall for these horrible issues and my vehicle should be as well. This is a major issue caused by Ford. Period. There is no specific date for this issue, it happens every single day since I have owned this 2011 Ford Edge se fwd.
Passenger door ajar light stays on and doors won't lock, and the exterior lights come on when the car is parked and not running they had a recall for the drivers side door latch, but not for the passenger side.
I own a 2011 Ford Edge that has a reoccurring door latch issue. This is a well known issue with certain Ford Edge years. The door latches are defective and malfunction, causing a "door ajar" dash warning light and the interior lights come on. We have had all 4 door latches replaced, but I currently have one malfunctioning again. The last one I had replaced in 2018 was not covered under warranty, and cost me $350. I spoke with Ford and they refuse to reimburse me. My daughter currently drives this car. It is unsafe when the interior lights come on at night when driving due to this issue. Ford should step up and recall these models with this problem.
Driving at night is very dangerous as my headlights are extremely dim (even with new bulbs). The high beams are no better as they don't illuminate the road far enough or bright enough to see objects at night more than 100 feet away. I get anxiety driving at night because I can't see much and this is a problem with Ford Edges of various years with halogen bulbs. Many have had to buy conversion kits to install hid lights because the headlights are so bad. There are several online forums of Edge owners who are very dissatisfied in the quality and safety of the headlights. I believe this is a very serious safety concern and that a recall should be placed on the vehicle. Car owners should not have to spend hundreds of dollars to modify a brand new or used vehicle because the headlights don't illuminate well enough to drive safely.
My car is a 2011 Ford Edge sport awd and the brake lights will stay on after using the brakes. It is available for inspection. It is a safety hazard because others around me are not always seeing an accurate signal. I have not taken it in to be looked at yet, I just have been lifting up on the brake pedal after I use the brakes. There is on warning or notifications stating the brake lights are still on.
While driving at 35 mph, my emergency hazards came on by themselves. Will not turn off by touching hazard button, or pulling battery terminal. Took to a mechanic who said my body contol module is faulty, and wont read any codes. Need to take to dealership for faulty bcm.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated when attempting to drive the vehicle internal lights would unexpectadly illuminate without warning and drain the battery. The contact also stated that none of the door locks work properly therefore the vehicle stays unlocked. The vehicle was taken to( krieger Ford, inc. 1800 morse rd, columbus, OH 43229) for a diagnosis. The diagnosis was the passenger side lock needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired twice however the failure reoccured. The manufacturer was made aware of this issue but did not offer any assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000 tp.
The driver door ajar light remains on even when the door is closed. This keeps the dome lights on which is hazardous to drive with in the evening. I understand this is an ongoing problem for Ford but they have done nothing to fix it.
The interior lights are staying on when the ignition is turned off and the car is park position due to a faulty door switch, and this is happening when the door indicator on my instrument panel is showing the door is ajar when it is actually closed, thus creating a safety issue when the car is in motion due to same fault showing up. This is also killing the battery if not noticed in time.
Door ajar light stays on when door is closed, light will turn on minutes or hours after locked overnight and is draining battery. Light on while driving at night is very distracting and interferes with night vision. Cant lock doors when driving so door could open in a crash. Issue continues.
The driver's door light ajar sensor stays on even after the door is shut and keeps the interior dome light on. This has been happening on and on again off again basis for years. Recently it is happening all the time. When we get in and start the car no matter how many times the door is opened and shut the notice stays on. This will then continue as long as the car is in reverse and makes backing up at night very hard as you can't see with the interior lights on. When backing from the driveway into the street you cannot see if there is traffic. When the car is put in drive the dome light will finally go out after a short period of time. If we park the car and lock it the dome light will stay on for 5 or more minutes as it registers as the front door being ajar. Neighbors have stopped at our home to tell us we left our interior lights on.
The on screen door ajar warning shows door open when non exists. This keeps the dome lights from shutting off and can interfear with unlocking or opening other doors with the remote. Sometimes the dome light dome light stays on leaving my battery dead and me stranded.
Takata recall the door ajar message displays on my 2011 Ford Edge vehicle constantly and the door is shut. The lights stay illuminated because of the door ajar sensor not working properly. Also I can not lock my doors when I am inside the vehicle when the engine is on which is unsafe in my opinion. I have seen that many people have stated this has happened to their Ford as well, but a recall has not been issued.
Soon after starting my car and putting it in reverse, the passenger door ajar indicator came on as well as all the interior lights. The passenger door looked securely closed, but I tried closing it again to be sure. The passenger door ajar indicator stayed on as well as the interior lights, which made it difficult to see at night. Since then it has stayed on every time I drive the car. Additionally, I am not able to lock the car doors when it is in motion because of this problem. I took it to the shop and they said the actuator was faulty. Apparently this is a wide-spread problem with the Ford Edge.
I first noticed this problem when I turned on the vehicle in my garage and the passenger door ajar indicator came on as well as all of the interior lights. Even thought the door looked to be securely closed, I opened and closed the door again to be sure. The passenger door ajar indicator and all the interior lights stayed on, which made seeing at night while driving very difficult and dangerous. Additionally, I was unable to lock the doors of the car because of this problem. The technician at the shop said it was a faulty actuator and that many Ford Edge's have had this problem.
Driver door ajar light continuously lit. The door is closed but the dome lights remain on.
The door ajar light stays on despite all doors being closed. This in turn prohibits the doors to lock on the vehicle (while driving and parked). The dome light will turn on intermittently, this includes during night time driving and when parked - both creating major safety issues. Battery drainage - being left with an inoperable vehicle. Visibility - severe glare and limited visibility while driving in darkness. Personal safety - doors not looking creates a threat to personal safety (there is a reason car doors lock automatically within a few minutes of takeoff - personal safety). In addition to this, the backup camera went out at 50000miles. So disappointed!.
Door ajar light won't shut off. I'm blinded at night when I need to move the car since the lights are on. My battery is drained due to the lights remaining on. I use my vehicle at night so this has me very worried to be stranded. My doors don't lock. For needs to recall. Thank you.
The passenger door ajar light comes on even after the door is closed, and the even if the car is turned off and the doors locked it will act like the door comes open and set the alarm off and or turn the interior lights on causing the battery to die. It happens continuously everyday.
The door ajar light is constantly on causing the interior lights to stay on after you get out of car and while you are driving. Also the car locks will not lock while driving the car and you can't leave the key in the ignition while parked but staying in the car. A bell will just keep ringing until you remove the key.
Door ajar on front passenger door and interior lights and exterior lights staying on and not being able to automatic locking mechanism after you start driving or being able to lock the car when you park said vehicle. Was told by dealer Ford is notorious for the Ford 2011 Edge 3. 5l v6 electrical-switch & relay door open warning relay was major problem with this vehicle . And it will keep the computer open and will drain the battery quickly causing the vehicle to die on the roadside after over 1500 complaint to Ford company they stated not enough complaint . . . . . This is a safety issue if you have children they can open a unlocked door what more proof do you need Ford not to recall this issue and fix it !!.
The emergency flashers turn on at anytime including when the vehicle is not running. The only way to turn off is to disconnect wire. We have car in to garage and they had never heard of this happening before!! they 1st said would cost up to $600 but they didn't know what problem was now they are saying a module has to be replaced and will cost over $1100. I did see on line where there was a recall that stated the module had to be replaced to correct electrical problem, and Ford would take care of it. I don't feel I should be billed for this since they know there is an electrical issue and module is only fix. The car does not have to be in motion for this to happen it has happened even when the car is parked!!.
Passenger door ajar light remains on at all speeds and stationary. Safety of myself and children are in jepardy because my car no longer locks. We will be trading this vehicle in. Safety isn't something you risk. Extremely upsetting. With alll of the issues posted that Ford hasn't sent a recall on this.
Faulty door ajar switch - replaced door ajar switch in driver door at 39,500 and again 91,000 miles. Rear driver side door has produced the same issue and is now consistent for 1 month.
When I shut my driver door the light comes on the dashboard saying "driver door ajar". I have to keep shutting/slamming the door to clear alarm. At most it will not go off. When I start to drive with all the doors closed all doors should lock and they don't because the door is open. I have two young children and I don't think it's safe. When I hit my key to lock the doors after I get out my interior lights stay on which is causing low battery! this needs to be fixed! for you to provide vehicles to the world safety is a must and their are so many others out there that has this problem why be so slow to correct it!!.
On 5/20/17 we noticed the door ajar light was on and interior dome light stayed on while driving. Stopped the car, opened and closed each door, sometimes several times and seemed to be the driver's side back door. Lights all finally went off. The next day the issue returned - dome light remained on for 1. 5 days and door ajar light was also on. The night of 5/22 my husband directed my son to try something with the door latch on that door and that got the lights to go off again. It's dangerous to drive the car at night when the interior lights won't go off not to mention that this will cause battery drainage.
Door ajar light says on while driving - doors will not lock and interior light stays on in park started at 36,000 miles.
Front driver side door switch does not operate properly causing false indication that door is not closed. Warning indicator can be overridden but this can cause a potential hazard if driver routinely ignores indicator and the door is not actually latched. Based on my on line search this is a common problem with this model. I consider this a serious safety issue. This issue should be investigated for a potential recall. This condition exists while the car is stationary or in motion.
Door open signal stays on and doesn't allow interior to turn off. Alarm will go off every 2 hours. Door ajar signal remains on regardless of car is moving or off in park. Interior light stays on after car is off.
The drivers side door latch does not catch. This causes the "drivers door ajar" warning. This also causes the lights to no turn off when the car is parked and turned off. This resulting the battery being drained. When battery is drained the car won't start and can leave the driver stranded.
Door ajar warning light stays on when the door is closed. This causes to interior dome light to stay on when driving down the road. This is a safety issue. Driving after dark with the dome light staying on interferes with the drivers ability to see out and decreases the driver's vision of the road ahead.
I have a 2011 Ford Edge 2nd yr the door ajar light stays on which keeps all the interior lights on and draining the battery. I've had the sensor replaced once but it started again 6 months later. The dealer aside I need to replace them all at 400 dollars a door I've replaced the battery twice at 230 dollars each because the speedometer reads 60mph when the car is sitting still has to be fixed and the my key needs to be reprogrammed. It's a hazard at night because the dome lights stay on while trying to drive. And the dead battery has left me and my family stranded twice. .
