The passenger door is showing on panel as "door ajar" even though it is closed. It will not lock and the dome light will not shut off therefore draining my battery too.
Door ajar switch not working properly.
The rear driver-side door indicator switch has become unreliable. It now indicates the rear driver-side door is open a majority of the time. Because the car thinks the door is not closed, interior lights do not dim reliably and the doors no longer lock reliably. I don't get the option to do so until the car is well under way.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the instrument panel lighting remained illuminated and the "door ajar" message was displayed. In addition, the dome light remained illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 132,000.
When the drivers door is shut the door ajar warning stays on and the interior light stays on.
Driver door is latched but dome light remains on. Door ajar warning light stays on. Will not shut off , have to shut door multiple times until door ajar light and dome lights turn off. Turns on randomly even while in driving gear. Light will even stay on when vehicle is off . Which if not caught might drain the battery. This has happened multiple times in a day . To every day. Even at night time which caused it hard to drive.
The door ajar light stays on even when the doors are closed. This then drains battery and leaves driver stranded. It also keeps the interior lights from shutting down because the system thinks the door is ajar. It doesn't matter if the car is running or not this happens.
The door ajar warning lights stays on. This results in the dome light staying on while driving for a short period of time or after the car is off. Drained the battery once. Also, the door can not be locked. On a much more serious note, the dome light suddenly come on while I'm driving on the highway. This creates a very dangerous situation because I'm unable to see cars around me very well. I went to the Ford dealership in Feb, 2015 and fixed it once. However, this happens again recently. I really think Ford should address this issue!.
I bought this car 2015 in the late winter. From the time I bought it the drivers door sensor would say its ajar. According to the dealer it would be about $1000 to fix. Tonight my auto door unlock doesn't work and neither does the key unlock the door. I'm stranded 30 miles from home. This is totally unacceptable. I will be letting anyone who asks to be extremely cautious about any Ford products.
The door ajar light stays on when all doors are closed and the interior lights stay on. Also I was not able to open the car with the security code from the outside the car I had to use the key. I was park when I first notice the passcode was not working then I used the key I closed all the doors and still said one door was open, so I make sure all were close. I realize there was something wrong so I just drove the car like that. Also I just bought the car so I don't know if that has happened before.
My passenger door indicates that when closed that it is not. The dome light stays on and so does the dash indicator. It has also done it while driving down the road. Creepy, since I'm disabled and have hands controls to drive. So I have to pull over and reclose the door. Plus once the lights come on I can't see while driving at night.
Door ajar warning light on dash after closing doors repeatedly. Dome lights remain on and drain battery lfe.
My problem is with a 2011 Ford Edge. The door ajar light stays on all the time. The dome lights inside the vehicle will not go out and is hazardous when driving at night. The dome lights stay on while driving. I had to replace my battery and now I am afraid my new battery will run down and leave me stranded away from home.
Door ajar signal stays on when door is closed interior light stay on when door is closed inability to lock doors faulty latch.
Door ajar issue. Already killed one battery. Also is a safety issue. I've had to drive several times when it's dark out and the lights inside the vehicle will not shut off. Not going to pay almost 500 dollars to have this fixed when I hear of tons of people fixing it, for the issue to come right back with a new part.
Passenger door ajar warning when door appears to be closed tightly. Automatic locks will not engage while in drive because warning light indicates passenger door is ajar. Additionally, interior lights remain on when in drive due to passenger door ajar warning which presents a significant hazard when driving at night. Problem has gotten progressively worse with time. Battery car had to be replaced because interior lights would remain on all night. Opening and re-shutting door is inconsistent fix. Wd-40 not effective. Not using passenger door once warning light turns off is the only sure way to keep door closed. Passenger door ajar warning light remains on when car is in motion or stopped whenever key is in ignition. When car is off and key is out, interior lights remain on indefinitely, car is only able to be locked when car is off and key is out of ignition.
"door ajar" light remains on the passenger side door. This causes car doors to stay unlocked, dome lights to stay on, draining my battery, unable to use the auto car start. Dangerous for my small children who can now open the door while I am driving.
The latch door ajar sensor is not working properly and cannot recognize when the door is closed. This results in me being unable to lock my door and it leaves the dome lights on until it times out.
Done lights will not go off. Driver side back door shoes to be open when it is closed.
Door ajar warning message on while driving or parked. Causes interior lights to stay on 10 minutes before turning off when parked. Interior lights will turn on and alarm horn will sound intermittently when parked. I pulled the fuse for the horn relay, don't know when it will sound. I feel it's unsafe to drive without a horn. While driving doors do not lock in fact they unlock after locking them with lock switch.
Door ajar light stays on. Not sure if door is opened or closed driver side. . Worried that the door will open while driving. Battery has died in the car already because the interior lights stay on.
My driver side door indicator came on and at first it would take me a few times shutting the door for it come off. Now its to the point where it does not turn off and keeps the interior lights on until I drive forward a bit, then turn off. That's not good at night for sure. Now when my car is locked the panic alarm goes off all times of the day and night. I was driving down my driveway (thank goodness) one night and the lights turned on and the car started dinging for the door. Why is this something that is not recalled??? it is dangerous for the light to stay on at night and especially if my door really isn't latched. I don't see why I should have to pay something out of pocket that I didn't break or have control over breaking. Please help fix this. . . . . . . .
Door ajar warning light does not go off when all doors are closed. . . The interior dome lights remain on and does not turn off until vehicle is in drive and has moved more than about 250 feet. It is extremely dangerous at night time especially when a lit dome light makes it very difficult to see out of the vehicle. This weekend the battery died as a direct cause of this issue! Ford just issued a recall for 1. 5 million defective vehicles and this year needs to be added ASAP. I refuse to pay for something out of pocket that the manufacture should be held responsible for. . . Please help!.
Door ajar lights staying on and will not go off when door is closed! they go on and off while driving down the road. Can't lock the doors, alarm will not set, interior lights stay on and run battery down constantly.
The ¿door ajar¿ warning light on my 2011 Edge periodically comes on and stays on. The warning indicates that various doors are open. Sometimes it¿s the driver door; other times it¿s the left passenger door or the back gate. Each time the doors were closed properly, however the sensor thinks that the doors are open. This malfunction causes the interior dome lights and the exterior lights on the side mirrors to remain on, which drains the battery. Originally, I thought this issue was a problem specific to my vehicle. However, in an attempt to understand the problem, I conducted an internet search and discovered that the ¿door ajar¿ warning is a common and well known problem with Ford products including the Edge. This problem is not a result of use or wear and tear of the vehicle; it clearly is a mechanical /engineering flaw with the vehicle. I feel that this situation is a safety issues and should be corrected by Ford motor company. On September 19, 2016, I sent an email to the Ford motor company customer relationship center (crc), explaining the problem and seeking help. I was assigned a case number (cas-10612005-p1f4g7) and was told to contact a local dealer to diagnosis the problem. On September 27, 2016, a service department representative from beau townsend Ford informed me that the problem was with the door latch and the cost to repair is approximately $385. 00 per latch. He also informed me that Ford motor company would not pay for the repair. Next, I called the crc to appeal the decision. I was told that the problem was not a recall item and that Ford would not repair the vehicle. I was also told that I had no further recourse regarding this issue.
Inside lights stay on after door closed, door ajar light stays on on dash. Door locks want lock or unlock at times.
Driver door ajar stayed on. . . . Interior lights stayed on. . . . Doors would not stay locked. . . . High beams would not turn off. Could not drive my vehicle at night. All safety concerns. I just paid Ford motor company for new switch assembly and door latch assembly and labor. Total cost was 833. 19 for parts and labor. When I took my car in I mentioned to the dealer that I had seen numerous complaints online with the same issue. They didn't care at all. I had no choice but to pay to repair.
Door ajar warning always on resulting in doors not locking when car is in motion, dome lighting staying on when exiting the car and not being aware if car door is shut.
The 2 front door switches work sometimes. When parked the car thinks the doors are open and keeps the lights on. Sometimes for no reason the interior lights turn on and it drains the battery. Plus when the switches are not working the car does not think that it is locked and will beep twice when locking the car. When the switches have failed the doors will not lock when driving. I have been stranded because the lights will just come on when in a store and the battery will drain down to where the car will not start.
Door ajar lights stay on which causes automatic door locks to fail, dome lights to remain on while driving as well as when vehicle is parked and turned off. When driving this causes a safety hazard because anyone can enter the car at a stop sign or light and cause harm to vehicle occupants. Additionally, dome lights stuck on while driving also poses a safety hazard. When vehicle is off and dome lights stay on, this drains the battery as well as fuses. We have had to replace the vehicle battery as well as fuses. We recently had to pay $1144. 40 to have the door latches replaced and were told this is a known issue with Ford. I reached out to Ford customer service and was told they have not issued a recall for this problem. Date and mileage may not be accurate as this issue has been happening for many years, however we finally had no choice but to replace the door latches when my husband's wheelchair was stuck in the back because the fuse had blown and the back hatch door would not open.
This is a follow up complaint as advised by mary at Ford motor company. Ford did issue customer satisfaction program 19n09 refund for the driver side latch, however I had to replace the passenger side latch as well so would like a refund on both latches. When driver side door is shut light stays on and says door is ajar, makes battery run out of juice. Passenger side air bag is off at all times even when passenger is sitting in seat.
The ¿door ajar¿ light on the instrument cluster stays illuminated even when all doors are properly latched. This malfunction disables the automatic locking feature when the vehicle is put in the drive position. It also causes the interior lights to stay on and has caused my battery to be drained several times to where I had to have the vehicle jump started. I had to disconnect the interior lights which poses a safety concern for me in dark parking lots etc.
Due to the latch mechanism on the doors, the computer thinks the doors are still open and the lights inside do not turn off which makes it very difficult to see and drive when the interior lights of the car are on. Computer keeps saying "door ajar". The dealership wants to charge $600 to replace the latch mechanism and they don't guarantee that the problem doesn't happen again.
Door ajar warning came on with the door closed has very quickly got worse car will not lock properly when off anyone can press the keypad and get in the car so potential break in and door do not lock while driving safety issue if my daughter reaches for the door while driving the dome lights stay on while driving safety hazard while driving at night. There needs to be a recall as I'm about to spend hundreds to get this fixed and it could potentially happen again !.
