Rear passenger door ajar sensor - the sensor comes on several times a week even though the rear passenger door is completely closed (no one rides in the back seat so I know it is not being opened manually). This started happening around November 2016. I am not sure if the issue is with the door latch or the sensor itself. When this occurs, the interior lights stay on, which is distracting, especially at night. I am worried that the door may fly open while I am driving. This is a safety hazard. I saw there are tens of thousands of complaints about this issue. It should be recalled so Ford can fix it for free.
Takata recall: driver door ajar warning light comes on when trying to lock my vehicle by remote or manually after parking. Does not matter if I am entering or exiting the vehicle. This warning light is on while I am driving, and it turns on when starting engine. It will happen consistently at various times such as, there are times that the interior lights will come on while the vehicle is parked for at least an hour and the driver door is locked, once I am finally able to lock it. Whenever the interior lights comes on for no apparent reason (other times the interior lights would turn on and off again after a minute), and I would have to work on getting my door ajar light off again. Very, very annoying, and I had to replace my battery due to this issue. I bought this vehicle used September 2015, and it all started a week after purchasing it. I love my car, but I hate to drive it because of this issue. Please issue a recall, I should not have to pay for a faulty issue that I did not cause. This has been happening to me every single day, every time I use my vehicle. I took it to the service department and was told that there is no recalls. This has become worse, and I am starting to distrust any Ford vehicles. Something really has to be done about this!.
The door ajar alarm on the passenger door will not turn off even though the door is shut. This causes the door lock not to engage and the inside lights to stay on even while driving. I don't have a way to lock my doors, even manually.
Need someone to know about this craziness. Days after a full detailing and replaced battery that the dealer said needed replacing, got the blind spot and cross traffic warning faults, at first occasionally, then within a week every time the car was driven. Soon the navigation indicated a fault as well. A few days later, in the morning for school drop off, each of these faults alerted, then the heat started blasting. Turned the climate control to off and still blasting - hot. Got to the school to let the child out and the powered door locks weren't working. Thankfully there was a knob to manually pull up because I couldn't let him out of the car. Went straight to dealer with heat still blasting, they "reset" something and it seemed better. Then it all started again the next day. Sometimes door locks worked, sometimes not. Sometimes heat would blast, sometimes cool would blast, all with climate control off. Additional fault started for front collision warning. Dealer again, couldn't really figure it out (never connected it to new battery, incorrect installation, or something in detailing), but then needed to order a part. Back when part came in, took two days (had to get rental car - fortunately covered by extended warranty) because they couldn't figure it out. Reported finding some "singed wires" under the dash. Very scary experience - like the car was possessed. Need to know I can trust my car to do what I expect, especially since the car was far from cheap and had all the bells and whistles. So far so good with fix, except drivers door dings when opened with the car off (didn't used to) as if they key is in the ignition, but there is no key - intelligent access fob and push button start. Have the fancy features on cars been rushed to market without making sure they operate dependably first and without technicians trained to understand them and fix them?.
Driver side door remains "ajar". (door latch assembly) locks won't lock, dome lights stay on, can't lock car and lights come on randomly during the day & night. I have been told it is an ongoing issue that could cost me $500. 00. If I can't manually lock the doors, the kids can get out while driving. Safety recall is necessary or trading in Ford! I have to put tape over my dome lights so I can back out of my driveway in the dark. . . I can't see!.
At first, about a week or so ago, door lock sensor indicated right front door not closed. Warning appeared on dash. Automatic locking at 10 mph ok happened for a while, but within past few days, auto lock does not happen. In fact, if door locked manually after starting, all doors automatically unlock within seconds--whether vehicle parked or in motion (with ignition on). In short, locking doors is not possible and all doors are unlocked while driving. Locking doors is only possible when vehicle is parked and motor is off.
Driver door ajar light stays on constantly making the vehicle unable to lock doors automatically and manually. Also, interior lights stay on longer making night driving unsafe as well as risk for battery dying.
"passeger door ajar" indicator intermittently comes on and requires several hard door slams to remove it. Aside from being very annoying, this is a potential safety issue for the following reasons; 1. When the door ajar indicator is on, the doors will not automatically lock and cannot be locked manually, 2. The interior dome light comes on and cannot be turned off. This is especially hazardous at night. 3. I have been told the airbags will not deploy if the door ajar indicator is on. This issue has apparently been a problem for several years for Ford and the problem has not been corrected. There are many posts and you tube videos addressing the problem. I plan to have the dealer replace the sensor, but I maintain that this is a safety issue and Ford should fix the device.
The door latch sensor malfunctions indicating that the door is ajar. Doors will not lock neither manually nor electronically. The lf door latch has been replaced 10/12, rf latch replaced 11/13. (both replaced under warranty for malfunction) 9/14 the rf latch again malfunctioned, and was lubricated at a dealer to resolve problem. Again at 5/15 the latch again malfunctioned and was inspected. To this day it continues to malfunction. I was advised at the dealership to wait until updated latches are produced. Meanwhile, the doors will not lock when driving. When a new design latch is available, I will be required to pay for a replacement latch because the mileage and car are beyond warranty.
