Constant gas smell . Was told there is a fuel tank leak. Also check engine light came on and the codes that came up is for supercharger/ turbo boost.
Vehicle caught on fire from a leak.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the oil pressure warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure, and it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to report the failure to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
My engine stopped as I was driving approximately 60 mph on the highway. Weather clear, dry, 90 degrees. I coasted to the side of the road. Engine immediately started. I drove a short distance and the vehicle stalled again. It again started and I drove a short distance to pull into a safe location. As I was waiting for oncoming traffic so I could turn left into a driveway the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. It again started and I was able to park in a safe location. The vehicle started and operated. I then drove the vehicle to a auto shop to check for codes. No codes. Checked battery and alternator which were fine. New gas in gas tank, clean air filter. See on internet site that these vehicle are prone to this and are dangerous. Drove another 40 miles back home with no problems.
Premature water pump failure. Internal water pump. Inspected by dealer. Safety not put at risk. Confirmed by dealer. No warning light (cel) illuminated.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and accelerating, the heater operated then became inoperable. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that coolant was leaking from the water pump and needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 172,000.
While driving. The all wheel drive off and wrench lights up on the car dash screen. The car stalls and comes to stop. If I wait a minute it starts up. It repeatedly does this, then it will be okay for some time before it does again. I’ve. Had it at Ford garage, they say can’t duplicate or find anything on the scanner. It’s dangerous to drive this way. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the awd off message was displayed and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact stated that upon shifting to park(p) he was able to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was occurring intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was test driven; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was unable to restart and was towed to a tow lot. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 27,425. The VIN was invalid.
Had diagnosis test done and did process of elimination. Said needed ignition coils/ spark plugs did all that plus fuel injector and oxygen sensor put in bran new and check engine still blinking and car stutters. Only 10miles per gallon on car. You can smell fumes inside car severally. Looked on website and said this car had recall on fuel system/ gasoline. So am I able to take in to manufacture and they fix free cuz of seriously dangerous defect. Car could egnite.
The throttle body has failed, suspected by me doing research going back 11 years of the Ford Edge almost killing people while driving it. Confirmed by my local Ford dealership that I do infact need a new throttle body and gaskets. It goes into limp mode, the car loses power and stops working in the middle of driving 50 mph. No check engine light remains on, only a wrench icon appears until you restart the car, then the car works again for another 30 miles or until it wants to cause a major accident again. This is a huge safety issue. My car will jolt down to 10 mph, as if I slammed the brakes, while driving, not even having my foot on the gas, down the highway where the speed limit it 55. This is a killing machine. I only have moments to pull over to the median or somewhere before I cause a major accident. They have recalled the 2009 through 2013 Ford fusion and escape, as well as the milan and mariner because of the same issue. I have read hundreds of accounts online of the same thing happening in Edges. . . How can you allow this to go unchecked.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed and extended to the floorboard. The vehicle failed to immediately stop, nearly causing a rear end collision with another vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to an independent dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal, with the check engine warning light and fuel filler inlet message illuminated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and the local dealers were notified but no assistance as offered. The failure mileage was 136,000.
I've had the car for a year and it suddenly loses power during acceleration and is throwing the p0299 turbocharger code. I was getting on the interstate when the car did this the 1st and 2nd times. It was a very busy time of day and my car suddenly decellerated in front of an 18 wheeler with my kids in the car. No matter how hard I hit the gas it would not go and I almost got ran over by a tractor trailer. I had to slam on brakes and squeeze between the on ramp and a bridge guardrail to not be hit.
There should be a recall on the harmonic balance on the 2012 Ford. The part is out of stock and backordered every where.
I was driving home from work, goin 45mph approaching active railroad crossing, my vehicle started to misfire & went from 40- 20 mph, luckily I stopped before the tracks bcz as soon as I did the lights came in for a train. My car could have broke down on the tracks if I didn't stop. So while waiting for the train to pass, I turned my car off and back on to see if it was just a random but it continued to misfire and when it was safe for me to tcross the trax, I was able to make it but my vehicle would get to10mph. I pulled over & had my vehicle towed to the ciocca dealership, which it has been for the last month bec apparently the power train control module malfunctioned and burt out 3 out of 6 coils. The repairs for this will cost me over $4000. 00 which is not something I can afford. I have a "power train" warranty that won't cover a faulty defective "power train control module"?? matter of fact, it won't cover anything at all to help ease my cost. And the worst part, I have only owned this vehicle for 1 1/2 years. Not even 2 years. This car was a issue from the moment I drove it off the lot and now since I can't afford to pay for the defective module. . . . The dealership says to me, I should just reconsider this car all together bcz it needs a lot done for inspection this month. . . ?? like I owned it for not even 2 years . . I have 4 more years on a loan that they won't pay off so I can but another car? how does this even fall on me when I was sold piece if junk with a pretty face basically. . I was out into a unsafe predicament due to a faulty defective module that malfunctioned in the middle of me driving with no warning what so ever. Ford and the dealership I purchased not from(not the dealership I towed it to) have been completely 110% unhelpful. . Like they won't even return my phone calls and when I call they leave me on hold for hours until I hang up and call back.
Well like anyone you are overjoyed when you purches a car off the lot however mine has been a nightmare , I brought a vehcle for 5,000 from argent motors and I only brought the car because the salesman told me that the waterpump was damaged however 32 minutes after leaving this car lot my engine went on my truck so my engine blew in the middle of the new jersey turnpike , I had a newborn baby on the side of the road for over two hour once I waited for the tow truck I called the car lot and the owner basically told me he'll see me in court . They knew this truck wasnt driveable they knew it was unsafe when I put my children in and drove off.
Throttle body is causing car to stop at times while driving at an elecrated rate of speed for no reason. This should not be happy in a car that is a 2012 and only has 68000 miles. This happens on an open highway. It has happened multiple times, I selected the last time.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. While the contact's daughter was driving 55 mph, she smelled an abnormal fuel odor. The driver stated that fuel spewed threw the engine compartment. The contact arrived at the scene, cut the fuel line, attached another rubber fuel line onto the engine compartment, and was able to drive home. The contact called autonation Ford (20777 katy fwy, katy, TX 77450, (281) 305-8949), but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was unknown.
Intermittent loss of brakes. Brake peddle goes to the floor board. Also engine has now died twice when idling once at a stop, once while parked.
Vehicle displays a warning "vehicle coolant over temperature" the vehicle had been inspected twice and the technicians claimed not to have been able reproduce the error and also claimed that the computer was not "spitting" out any errors. The message displays within the first file miles after the car has been stationary for more than 2 hours and it is displayed for 10-20 seconds.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated once the accelerator pedal was depressed. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. Town and country Ford nashville located 101 anderson ln, madison, TN was contacted and diagnosed the turbo bypass cylinoid was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer twice more and diagnosed two more cylinoids were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred again. The vehicle was then taken back to the dealer where they diagnosed that the turbo assembly was defective and needed to be replaced. The failure was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,000. Kh.
After pulling out in traffic on 1/15/18, going about 50 mph, my 2012 Ford Edge suddenly lost power and the wrench warning light appeared. I had to shut the car down and restart it several times to slowly get it out of traffic - each time the wrench warning light appeared and the vehicle lost power. Finally, after getting out of traffic I shut it down and let it sit for a few minutes, restarted it and this time the awd warning light appeared but my car is not an awd vehicle. Then the wrench light appeared again. Had it towed to the local dealer. They couldn't find any computer memory record of what happened and had their technician drive it home to see if the problem duplicated itself. It did not. After 3 days at the dealership they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle and I picked it up and drove it home. I should add that my vehicle has only 26,000 miles on it. In reading these complaints mine is not the only complaint about this issue and Ford needs to figure out and repair those vehicles affected by this problem. This is definitely a safety issue!.
I started my 2012 Edge and heard the starter take longer to turn over and start the car. Within moments the check engine icon appeared. I took my Edge in to auto hobby shop located on a military installation. The service representative used his code reader machine to view code p0456. Which he said it indicated a minor fuel leak. He performed a smoke check said he noticed smoke leaking. I called my local Ford dealership to check if there were any fuel system recalls. They said there was, but not for my VIN. Of the 3 recalls out for a 20012 Edge, I only recieved one. Are recalls only for specific years/models/VIN's? how can I get my issue repaired? could my VIN be added to the recall if I had a relating issue?.
While driving my 2012 Ford Edge limited with less than 60000 miles the vehicle just died in the middle of traffic, no steering, no power nothing. The problem has happened close to 15 times.
Vehicle suddenly stops going, no acceleration. Happens without warning, forcing you to get off the road. Must shut off vehicle and restart. Creates a very hazardous situation where you can be traveling on the interstate going 65 mph & suddenly have no power! engine is running but there's no acceleration whatsoever. My warranty just ran out & I have less than 36000. 0 miles on this car! only happens when you're traveling which means you have no way of preparing & puts your life in jeopardy.
I was driving on a busy, city street at approximately 30mph when my 2012 Ford Edge sport lost power and the "wrench" warning light came on. I had to carefully move towards the right lane and was able to coast into the parking lot of a convenience store. I turned it off, waited 10 minutes, and it started up again. I drove home the 3 miles without incident. The same afternoon, I drove it to the nearest Ford dealer to have it checked out. Their report showed no codes and told us there was nothing they could do. I drove it that night about 30 miles without any problems. The next morning, I exited my neighborhood tract into a busy intersection where the car died again. I barely coasted once again to safety after trying to make it through the intersection with the threat of oncoming traffic. This was terrifying. I called a tow truck and the car was towed to the same dealer where they continue to say there is no code and they cannot duplicate the problem after driving it. They did replace the battery, saying that it was low, even though the battery is less than one year old. I am not confident that replacing the battery will fix the problem and they don't seem confident either. They have had the car for 5 days now and want us to pick up the car up tomorrow. How can I feel secure driving my family in a car that has put me in this dangerous predicament? I have spoken to the service manager, Ford regional managers, and none of them are empathetic to this situation and they offer no solution.
Repeated problem with this vehicle. First door ajar light has been repaired because it would not shut off the interior lights (not legal to drive with them on) and therefore drained battery. Safety hazard. Ecoboast failed and we were told by the dealer that it was a safety hazard and that we could not drive the car. . . . Big expense! now a second door ajar light won't go off. . . . Doors do not lock while the vehicle is moving. Somebody needs to step up on these issues and do what's right. I cannot believe that specific vehicles were recalled for these issues when many others are experiencing, and paying for the exact same problem on the same year vehicle. Something smells about this. Majorly disappointed in Ford and NHTSA. Please note that the listed complaints are not the only ones we've had over the past year.
Fuel system stops working (throttle body). Car looses power, pressing gas pedal does nothing. Must get off road very quickly while drifting. Very unsafe.
Car motor lost power during high way, I was passing other cars and in heavy traffic, I almost crash and put my family and other in a very high risk because the car motor just die while drive 7o miles per hour. My family and I are still in shock!!!! I keep reading about what could be wrong, I took the car to the dealer for service and they recognize the problem very quick, seems to be a known issue, Ford should fix this under a recall, my car is out of warranty (51k miles) and I will have to pay for the fix as well. Somebody is going to get hurt, help fix this please!.
On five occasions recently, moving at normal speed on city streets, suddenly lost power and would only crawl along to curb. I stopped the engine, waited a few moments, and started again. It functioned normally. The dealer said all was normal on three separate occasions. I suspect it is the electronic throttle body, but I can't be sure. My dealer won't replace it in spite of all of the similar reports on the net. I consider it to be too risky to drive.
While driving at 65 miles an hour on a major highway my vehicle completely lost power. The vehicle lost the ability to accelerate, steer and break. Luckily I was able to get it to limp off the shoulder where I turned the vehicle off and it immediately restarted. Traffic was slow so no injury was caused but next time I may not be so lucky. My local Ford dealer is trying to tell me that it is a power steering problem and they will not even listen to the fact that the vehicle lost all power.
I was driving in rush hour traffic in the far left lane when my car suddenly and without warning lost all forward momentum. A wrench light came on and it immediately slowed to about 1 mph. I had to cross four lanes of traffic and was able to come to a stop safely in the right median. I turned my car off and restarted it and the light was no longer on. Reading online this seems to be an ongoing problem with no resolution. Ford needs to issue a recall immediately. Being that the car stops immediately and not to a gradual stop this is a huge safety concern of being hit by other drivers while trying to get to safety.
Sometimes when I put the car into park, I get repeated warnings to "shift to park". If I don't jiggle the button on the shift knob, my seat and other electrical components will not respond. I have to start the truck a few times, put it through the gears (in drive and reverse), then I press the shift release button several times then the warning stops and my driver seat functions to allow me to get out of the car. This is a pain and the dealer said that if the problem couldn't be duplicated, then they cant do anything about it. I have had the truck in 2 times about this - the transmission shifts hard into gear after slowing or coasting and then accelerating. Almost feels like I have hit something when it happens. I'm very concerned, having two toddlers in the truck. I also took video of the parking, shifting into park issue. I just want it fixed. . . .
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the battery and the key fob needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000. Pam.
A message warning "shift to park" appears on the car dashboard when the car has already been put into park position. This warning message disallows the driver to turn the car off - shut of the engine. The car is already in park and message light continues to be on display on dashboard.
