1 Ball Joint problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2015

Driving on a 3 lane city road in the left most lane at 50 miles an hour when I heard a snap. Then immediately the steering pulled hard to the left. I fought it back to the right while braking. Eventually the car came to a stop. I got out of the car and saw that the front left tire was flipped 90 degrees to the left and what appeared to be the axel laying on the ground. After further investigation it was found that the ball joint had broken apart from the rest of the drive assembly and ripped out the axel. The vehicle is an all wheel drive and had 50,000 miles. Prior to this incident there was ongoing alignment issues that the dealer could not diagnose.
