1 Headlight Switch problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2016

The vehicle was purchased new in Dec. 2013 and as of today has 54,500 miles on it. As of today it has now gone through 2 headlight bulbs, one for each side. The first was Jan. 2016 and the second yesterday. I believe there is a defect in the way the headlight high/low beam system is made in the Edge. A single bulb is used for both high and low beam. When the driver switches to high beam the entire bulb socked or light housing is commanded up. This is noticeable inside the vehicle with a loud bump from the headlight area. I believe the force of this movement contributes to the shortened life of the bulbs. If driving at night it's possible both bulbs could be broken when switching from low to high beam. Should this occur at night it could lead to a vehicle crash due to loss of visibility, possibly resulting in injury or death.
