Driving on the highway at night when suddenly the door alarm rings, dome light turned on causing driver to lose focus/control. Was driving at 60mph when the sensor faulted. The alarm/notification turns on at random times causing the vehicle to have the light stay on and drain battery. This is causing the driver unsure if the door is properly closed and risking the door opening in case of an accident. Problem has persisted.

Due to the door latch issue and my interior light staying on I am unable to see at night when driving. It has caused issues with my battery and I have had to replace it a few times. Why isn't Ford recalling this?.
The dome lights won’t shut off when all the doors are shut.
Vehicle door ajar warning light appears on dash as a bright red warning when door is actually closed. Loud beeping warning sound continually sounds off while driving, causing a distraction making unsafe to drive. Driver ignores other warning banners and alerts because this "door ajar alert" is constantly on and ringing. The driver and passengers are in danger because the saftey automatic door locks dk not lock while driving. The driver cannot lock doors with key fob because the door sensor shows the door is ajar. Dome lights are constantly on while driving make it very difficult driving at night, impeding sight of street signs, street maintenance workers, other vehicles, and pedestrians.
The door ajar light is on indicating that the driver's side back door is opened even though the door is closed. As a result you cannot lock the doors and the light stays on inside the car. I called Ford and they are not willing to repair the problem even though there was a recall for the same issue on the driver's side front door. This occurs while the car is in park or in drive and while in motion at low or higher speeds.
I cannot safely drive at night because the dome light does not turn off while the door ajar alarm is on. My doors do not lock while operating the vehicle while this shows the door is ajar. My dome light stays on for 10+ minutes every time I open or close the door.
The door ajar light is illuminated for the rear passenger door. The overhead light stays for 10 mins or so when any door is opened and then closed. The door ajar alarm will beep when you start the car and put it into reverse or drive until you acknowledge the alarm and the light will stay on. There is no way to turn off the interior light. At night it makes it very hard to see to back out your vehicle.
I went to work this morning and parked car I had a half a tank of gas and 8 hours later when I got off of work the gas gauge said that I had a full tank of gas. When I got home and parked car I smelled a lot of fumes and gas.
Door ajar warning comes on which makes thee interior lights stay on, when this warning happens the doors will not lock. Tonight, it was especially dangerous when this warning happened after dark and the interior lights stayed on while driving home which is a 20 minute commute. It makes it difficult to see what's happening outside the car, especially when you live in the country trying to Dodge deer becomes 100% harder with interior lights on.
The door sensor to let the car know the door was closed, failed, resulting in a constant "door ajar" message. This occurred on the driver side door and started shortly after I purchased the car (used) in 2017 and was no longer covered under warranty. For the better part of the past 2 years I was able to repeatedly open/close the door until the sensor recognized that the door was actually closed, but that no longer became an option as of 9/9/2019. No matter how many attempts were made to open/close the door, I could no longer manipulate the sensor. Two impacts occurred as a result of this: 1. The car doors would not lock. Since the car believed the door was ajar, every time you would go to lock the doors, the car would automatically unlock them. This poses a safety issue. 2. The interior dome light remained lit, resulting in a dead battery. I had no choice but to spend approximately $350 dollars to have the sensor replaced. I have seen many, many complaints online from Edge owners with the same issue, yet Ford is not being held liable for faulty equipment. This is an unfair expense to pass on to the consumer. If the issue is not identified as a "recall", the least that could be done is for the issue to be fixed at no charge by Ford, if/when the issue arises for the owner.
The drivers side rear back door has a sensor light that comes on just like the drivers door side door that has been recalled. The door ajar light comes on and shows the door is open and will not lock.
"takata recall" the warning light that l passenger door is ajar stays on -- even when door is closed. This apparently drained the battery; had to jump the car to get it started. The dome light stays on. This has especially been a problem for the past several weeks. This occurs whether the car is stationary or in motion.
Door ajar indicated when door is shut. Dome light stays on, battery dies, door will not lock properly.
Front passenger door ajar warning comes on, leaving interior lights on running battery down. When I am driving interior lights on it's really hard to drive in the evening/night time. My mechanic checked the door and said it's electrical issue not mechanical. First it happened when I was driving the lights turned on and on the dashboard was sigh passenger door ajar. All the doors were definitely closed. I didn't get recall when should've cause this's safety hazard driving with interior light on in night time.
Drivers door malfunctioning. Safety hazard. Door does not register close even when slam it hard.
"door ajar" light on dash remains on even when doors shut securely. This causes inside lights to remain on, and buzzer to buzz. Problem continues during vehicle in use.
Driver side door gives warning of door ajar when door is cocompletely shut, causing the safety of my 5 year old and I to be compromised by the vehicles inability to lock the doors while in motion as well as leaving the interior lights on which impairs evening visability. Lastly it continues to provide a warning alarm which impairs drivers concentration and ability to maintain focus and safety on the road and on other drivers as well as driving safety procedures. Problem. Is intermittent amd will happen when parked or randomly while driving. Problem persists even after slamming door, which can cause further damage to the proper functionality and safety of the vehicle that is controlled through the doors control pannel. If issue persists I plan on filing with the bbb in regards to this issue and the negligence of Ford in this hazardous compromise on safety for those in the vehicle, especially in cases including youth and children.
Door is not registering that it is closed. Interior lights remain on and drain battery. The driver ajar switch needs to be recalled and fixed.
Door ajar light stays on dome light stays on keeps flashing two warnings, cant clear them.
Rear left door ajar light stays on keeping the courtesy lights to stay on after the car is off causing the battery to drain.
Door ajar light on dash always on when ignition key is inserted - doors securely latched - dome lights stay on, draining battery - doors won't lock for safety in motion - dealer trying to act like they never heard of it, although thousands mentioned online - vehicle has 30600 miles.
1. The door ajar sensor is telling the car that the door is always open. As a result, the interior lights stay on all the time, which causes visibility issues while driving at night. It also leaves the lights on even after the engine is turned off and doors are locked, which drains the battery, and has caused my wife to be stranded a couple of times. We replaced the switch and a year later, we are having the same problem again. Our daughter often drives the car to college at night and has been stranded at least twice after getting out of class at 10 pm. This problem has gone beyond a nuisance and is now a safety issue. When I called Ford dealer to complain again, they told me they can fix it, by replacing the switch assembly on the door lock, for $400. So far, this sensor has been replaced twice in 4 years and it looks like it will need to be replaced again. 2. Over the last few weeks, the light for "shift to park" come on randomly. Most often, it is when my wife is stopped at the light. The moment she takes her feet off the break, the light comes on and stays on until she steps on the gas and the car starts to move. We took the car to the dealer and they were not able to find any problems. Right after leaving the dealership, at the stop light, the light came back on again. We took the car back to the dealership and they said if we wanted them to look at it, they will have to charge us another $140 for the tests. Either the dealership service people don't know what they are doing or they have a good scam going. They charge people and tell them there was nothing wrong with the car, and have them bring it back again for another charge.
The doors sensors of the driver and passenger doors are faulty, causing the car to register them as "open" all the time. This causes door locks to default to unlocked, even while driving, regardless of speed. This causes a fall hazard, a carjacking hazard, and an abduction hazard for me and my children. It also causes the overhead lights to stay on while beginning to drive until the car reaches speeds over 10 mph. This causes a problem while in reverse in parking lots, as the lights decreases visibility to almost nothing and prevents me from seeing cars crossing behind me and parked on my passenger side.
Driver side door ajar light on. Vehicle was not in motion and the door is closed.
Door ajar front passenger.
The door sensors in this vehicle do not sense that the door is closed when it is. This leads to being unable to lock the doors while driving, it also causes the interior lights to remain on when the car is off even after the door is closed and the car is locked which drains the battery. Occasionally, the door will sense that it is closed after slamming it. This has led to an arm injury that I sustained when attempting to do this repeatedly from the inside of the vehicle. This is an ongoing issue and not a one-time occurrence.
Door ajar constantly comes on and off when driving. Interior lights stay on as car thinks door is open. As several others have stated. . . I'm waiting for the day when I get in the car and battery is dead as we can not turn off lights ! just called jim click Ford and they have found no recall on this problem. . . Therefore I have to pay over 500 dollars to fix weird how over 150o people are having this issue with vehicle but Ford doesn't think it's a problem. I guess an "accident waiting to happen" will change that thinking. When interior. Lights automatically come on at night when driving I will do my best to see the road and cars around me. Thanks Ford!.
Door ajar issue see attached. 5th complaint and no response safety issue when door flung open while driving , 8 year old child was in the vehicle!!!.
When the drivers door is shut, the sensor will show that it is still open and while driving at night, the overhead lights come on at random times and stay on sometimes one minute, sometimes 5 minutes and it makes it very difficult to see and is very dangerous. The door is shut but the door ajar light as well as interior lights come one. I have had this "fixed" by Ford a year ago and it is still happening.
The left rear door ajar notification light on the dash will not go off, even though the door is shut. Which means the dome light stays on and the doors will not lock. This happened when the door was opened, but no matter how many times, or how much force is used to close the door, the notification won't go away, and the doors won't lock while in motion.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while shifiting to park, a message was displayed "shift to park" with a beeping sound. The contact also stated that the vehicle interior lights and instrument panel would stay illuminated after exiting the vehicle. The contact she would have to re-enter the vehicle, restart the vehicle and shift the gear shifter several times until the message and interior lights would turn off. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnoses or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of th failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The contact mentioned that she researched the failure on-line and found other owners with the same failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000. Aa.
The door ajar light is coming on even when the door is closed. This is preventing the dome lights from turning off in order to drive and also draining the battery. Is is a safety issue at night and when I park my car and the battery dies.
