general problems of the 2013 Ford Edge - part 2

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while shifiting to park, a message was displayed "shift to park" with a beeping sound. The contact also stated that the vehicle interior lights and instrument panel would stay illuminated after exiting the vehicle. The contact she would have to re-enter the vehicle, restart the vehicle and shift the gear shifter several times until the message and interior lights would turn off. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnoses or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of th failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The contact mentioned that she researched the failure on-line and found other owners with the same failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000. Aa.

The door ajar light is coming on even when the door is closed. This is preventing the dome lights from turning off in order to drive and also draining the battery. Is is a safety issue at night and when I park my car and the battery dies.

The lights now will not turn off because of he door ajar issue. When I open and close the door over and over again, the door ajar issue goes away and then the lights go off. This is a safety issue due one of the lights smoking. In addition, touching the lights after being on for days, could have cause burns on the skin.

Control panel states doors ajar and lights won't turn off or doors won't lock. Dome light stays on and creates dangerous conditions at night when trying to back out or while driving. Lights will also come back on when stopped at stop light and won't go back off until a certain rate of speed has been met due to the system thinking the door is ajar when it's not. Doors will also not lock when car is off and dome light stays on draining battery till the battery is dead sitting in parked position. It is also climate sensitive and is worse on cold or humid days. Both the driver and the drivers passenger door is affected and creates extremely dangers driving conditions. This has been going on for at least 6 months and continues to get worse.

Door ajar continues to stay on despite doors being closed. Unable to lock doors (all doors) while driving. Interior lights stay on. Interior lights come on while driving making it difficult to see at night. Unable to lock doors with keypad. Unable to tell if door is actually closed or not while driving.

The front, driver side door latch is dysfunctional. The sensor does not correctly read when the door is open and closed. It will not read when the door is closed, so the interior lights stay on. Plus, the door agar switch dings. It is very difficult driving during the nighttime when the interior lights will not go off because of this dysfunctional sensor. Plus, the doors will not lock because the sensor reads incorrectly. I recently attempted to lock my doors because I was at a stop-light in a rough party of town, but they would not lock because the sensor reads my driver's door as "open. " I will not purchase another Ford because of this issue.

I have been having a problem with the driver's door of my '13 Ford Edge limited indicating that it is ajar (warning and interior lights on) when it is not. In order for it to quit, I have to either very firmly close the door (slam it) or open and close it a few times until it senses that it is in fact fully closed. It is also draining my battery because when I exit the vehicle sometimes the interior lights stay on. There have been a few occasions that I had to jump start my car. The door ajar light stays on when the vehicle is parked and in motion.

Driver door ajar light has started coming on regularly even though all doors are shut. Sometimes it happens while driving and I get a "shift to park" warning. Driver door ajar alert comes on and stays on will not reset, at the same time interior lighting remains on for an extended time after turning car off and exiting. Drains the battery. The door lacks are also effected unable to lock while car is on, the auto lock not functioning placing driver and passengers in jeopardy. The interior lights also effected when driving especially at dark due to an extended delay in going off after starting prohibits being able to see outside and drive safely. Have reviewed many reports from other Ford owners on this subject on you tube many of whiz have had very costly repairs done repeatedly on the same problem, some purchasing parts to repair only to find the parts were faulty as well.

The driver door ajar light is consistently on when parked it causes the interior light to remain on and drain the battery. When driving it will constantly beeps telling to you put the vehicle in park and won't let you lock the doors. At first it was a rare occasion that the door ajar light would come on but now it's almost everytime I get in the vehicle.

Door sensor reflects door open 3rd or 4th time this has happened. Doors will not lock and dome light remains on.

My interior lighting stays on when I am in reverse because the drivers door ajar is always on, I almost hit my neighbor and cliped his dog because it is impossible to see out the back window when backing while the interior lights are on. This is a huge safety problem. I have filed on this before but now it has become a real problem. What if I had hit my neighbor? safety issue.

My driver door sensor constantly tells me that my driver door is ajar even when the door is completely shut, causing the doors not to lock, interior lights to stay on, a consistent beeping noise alerting me, and draining my battery several times. This is unsafe.

2013 Ford Edge recently starting showing "door ajar" indicators on my message center. Additionally, this message causes a "shift to park" message on the message center as well. What started out as a random message is now a daily message and I have to open and close doors repeatedly in an attempt to get rid of the message. Night driving is no longer an option as I am blinded by interior lights when I can't get the sensor to engage and recognize that the doors are closed. During the day I run the risk of having a drained battery if I can't see whether or not the light has gone out when I exit the vehicle. When the sensor doesn't function correctly my keyless entry is useless as well. I feel this is certainly a safety issue, Ford even lists the door ajar warning switch assembly and lock lever assembly under "safety" in my certified pre-owned coverage guide. I am paying the $100 deductible to have the switch reset as the dealer doesn't want to replace something the doesn't have to. Ford should just bite the bullet and issue the recall for this, they listed it under the safety category to stay it's not a safety issue is wrong. If the switch issue was the flip and the light warning didn't illuminate when in fact the door was open that wouldn't be a safety issue? I think not. I have always had Fords, this used cpo Edge is closest auto I had to new in my life, I have never had any problems with my other used old Fords, I'm disappointed how Ford management is handling this. Ford issue the recall and lets get this done.

The driver side door latch has failed resulting in inability to lock the doors while the vehicle is in motion. Additionally, as the door is not being sensed as being closed, the interior lights remain on along with the door ajar light. This drains the battery. The inability of the doors to not stay locked as a result of this latch failure is a safety issue.

My door ajar light started coming last week and won't go off. I an positive the all doors are closed. It is very disruptive while driving, when the vehicle slows at signal lights, in intersections or in traffic the alarm comes on. Also, I was in a completely dark parking lot with people and cars moving around and the interior lights wouldn't go off. I could not see outside because of the interior lights. The door locks will not function in this state either. Someone could have easily gotten into the vehicle with me. Help!.

Door ajar warning comes on and will not go off. Interior lights remain on and none of the vehicle locks will latch because vehicle believes a door is ajar, when in fact it is not. The issue began about 2 weeks ago (October 10, 2016). I was able to open and shut door to turn the senor off the first few times the door ajar light came on and that solved the problem. . . Temporarily. At this point the door ajar light remains on, interior lights remain on when vehicle is parked and turned off, battery is drained due to lights staying on unless I disconnect the battery and doors never lock - not when vehicle is in motion, not when it is parked.

When the driver's door is closed securely the door ajar light and warning sound activate almost daily, more often on cooler mormings. After numerous attempts to close the door securely the problem persists and has been happening for several months. The door ajar warning also happens when the vehicle is in motion on city streets, highways and at all speeds without warning or as a result of unusual driving conditions. I am now aware the problem is well documented and widely known on social media and through comments I have read on various consumer websites. I do not recall the first time this problem occured, but the last time was today while taking my daughter to school. I am requesting a recall for the entire door assembly that controls the door ajar warning system.

"door ajar" light remains on even when door closed. This results in locks not working, interior lights no turning off etc. This is the 2nd time this has happened. ! year ago, Ford 'cleaned' the sensor and that worked, - for a year!.
