Three problems related to car stall have been reported for the 2016 Ford Edge. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2016 Ford Edge based on all problems reported for the 2016 Edge.
Vehicle has stalled multiple times while driving or stopped at a stop light without warning. "accessory power" remains on so lights, power steering etc. The first two times it happened I was at a stop light and had to place the car in park to restart the vehicle which took multiple attempts until the vehicle would remain running. Today the vehicle stalled while coming off of a highway, I had to pull over multiple times to restart the vehicle when ever I took my foot off the gas as the vehicle would stall. I barely made it to work. I am wondering why there is not a recall on the vehicle for this issue as Ford did recall the 2017 Edge for similar problems.
At approximately 53,000 miles, 2. 0l i4 ecoboost engine needed to be replaced due to coolant leek into block - #2 cylinder failure. Although cost of repairs were covered under warranty, it took a lot of effort to get this all accomplished. Bought this car brand new for $40,000 and have had all maintenance meticulously completed at local dealership (where I purchased the vehicle). Worried now about the durability of the installed replacement engine. That engine now has nearly 20,000 miles on it and is out of warranty.
Stopped at a red light in 2016 Ford Edge. When light turned green, attempted to make left turn. Vehicle would not accelerate through the intersection and appeared to stall. Turned vehicle off, restarted and again vehicle would not accelerate. With vehicle barely moving, was able to get out of way of three lanes of oncoming traffic but now stuck in the middle of the intersection. When traffic cleared, was able to make left turn and crawled at about 2-3mph with hazard lights on. At this time, wrench yellow warning light was displayed. Drove at that extremely slow speed until reached the left turn lane at the next intersection where could safely pull over and park. Tried several times to restart but continued to receive wrench warning light. That was then replaced with a check engine yellow warning light. Vehicle would still not accelerate. Vehicle was towed to dealer. An eec test was run and had code p2111. The throttle body was replaced with part at4z-9e926-b. This was under warranty since just 17,276 miles on the vehicle. It is unnerving when gas pedal could be pushed all the way to the floor and still barely move. This incident was very scary and fortunate vehicle was not hit and there were no injuries.
