2. 0l ecoboost, 40,000 miles, fwd, engine tries to stall when coming to stop at traffic light, rough idle, makes groaning or thrumming sound similar to helicopter. No power when using accelerator, engine off then on clears issue. Read p2196 code, cleaned maf sensor, but stalling returned. Random, not regular failure, so not able to recreate on demand. No fault code logged most recent incident. Has occurred 4 times over last month.
Car stalls out and loses power and symptoms have the potential to be fatal. This usually happens under acceleration and has almost caused 2 rear-end accidents. As I accelerate the car thumps when the engine stalls and then the car loses all acceleration. This sudden loss of power is especially dangerous when happening on the highway or ramp getting up to the highway. These are the two places it consistently happens. The car has been taken to the dealership to be serviced 5 times for the same issue without resolution. I won't let my family drive the car for fear of injury to her. I'm paying for a defective product. I do not feel safe in this vehicle and I don't get the sense that Ford is trying to fix the root issue.
I was pulling into a parking lot and the engine stalled. I was able to restart the engine.
