The vehicle then struck the garage door, resulting in minor damages to the vehicle and garage door. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 100.
The contact rented a 2024 Ford Edge. The contact stated while parked uphill and shifted into reverse, the vehicle violently moved forward. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal for the vehicle to reverse; however, the vehicle continued to roll forward. The brake pedal was depressed and at the same time the accelerator pedal was depressed violently, and the vehicle started to reverse. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted; however, and a live representative was unavailable, and a voicemail was left. The contact stated that enterprise rental was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
