1 Seat Belt problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/24/2025

The front driver seat belt has been fraying to the point that there’s only about 1/2” of belt left to hold it together. It’s frayed above the buckle so if I was to hit anything & depending on the belt to save my life I’m screwed bc it’ll just snap. I’ve contacted Ford who refuses to replace it under warranty bc it’s been over 6yrs which is wrong bc it is a genuine Ford motor craft part and peoples safety and lives depend on the seatbelt to save lives. It shouldn’t only be under warranty for a limited amount of time if it’s an original Ford part. So bc Ford has discontinued all parts and belts for the front driver’s side I can’t find a replacement for under $200! so this is deadly and I’m not sure what led to this level of fraying other than the mechanical device it winds up in. I always wear my belt and never has it been in the door or anything so I’m not sure what caused this horrible problem but it’s even worse Ford refuses to replace it. I drive a 2010 Edge se fwd it has only 88k miles and has barely been driven and one owner. I’ve looked online and seen that a lot of Fords have had recalled seat belts. I believe this needs to be a recall especially considering all the front driver’s seat belts on Ford have been discontinued and they don’t offer any other brand of replacement. How can they expect to ensure the safety of the driver of the car if they don’t have a lifetime replacement warranty on the actual belt itself or even offer a replacement for a decent price or a replacement at all for that matter considering all have been discontinued that tells me they weren’t that secure to begin with if they aren’t even available.

2 Seat Belt problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 09/15/2025

Rear center seatbelt retractor failed under normal use. The belt locks immediately and cannot be extended, making the rear center seat unusable. There is no accident or collision history. The issue developed over time and is now constant. This is a safety issue because a passenger cannot be properly restrained in that seating position, reducing available seating capacity.

8 Seat Belt problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/14/2025

I have been fixing my brakes and rotors every 4 months. 3 times my brake line has busted. The first time there was a recall and it was fixed. The second time I almost died had to hop a curb to stop I had my baby in the car with me. Ford apologized and gave me a free extended platinum warranty and fixed the problem. This last time I was pulling out of the pharmacy and my peddle went straight to the floor and I couldn't stop I was luckily in a empty parking lot. I keep having problems with the brakes and loud squealing noises. I stopped going to the dealership because they said I drive alot and need new breaks every 4 months, when I shouldn't need breaks every couple thousand miles. I'm being tooken advantage of. I can't afford to keep getting brakes and rotors. I'm a single mom on disability. I just got new break pads and rotors and calipers a month ago. I brought my truck into a mechanic to clean the break parts because my rims are so dirty and the squealing is so loud and when I come to a complete stop my truck feels hesitant. The mechanic cleaned & greased my pads and calipers and out some red paste said that should help but it didn't. This is absolutely insanity. Something is wrong. This is the 2nd time my passenger seat belt has stopped working and my air bag light is on. I can't afford to take it back to the dealership and pay 100s of dollars. This has been a repeating problem for years with the breaks. 5 years to be exact. And 8 months ago I fixed the seatbelt.

10 Seat Belt problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

December 19, 2024, engine failure and seatbelt failure. The seatbelt went loose and would not retract, lights started blinking on dash, car smelt funny the air coming through vents in to the cab of vehicle, white smoke out the tail pipe and then warning to pull over, temperature, check engine. I pulled over and called a tow truck. After getting my vehicle towed to certified mechanic, they advised my engine and chassie was 2018 model even though the VIN list it as 2019. I contacted Ford for recall on these items and they said they only go off the VIN. I did research along with the mechanic and there has been recalls and TSB for these items and several others my 2018 parts should have been inspected and Ford refused to do so. The engine failure is due to the coolant leaking into the engine. Whole engine needs replaced. Ford is refusing to assist in this matter. I have filed an official complaint with Ford, cxh-03434375-w8x5t6. There is several others that I believe my car should be checked for. 21 Seat Belt problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

Ford designed the vehicle with soy based insulation on the wires in the wiring harness, this attracts rodents which eat away at the wiring harness. Ford is aware of this but refuses to compensate or repair the damage. When the harness is compromised the tail lights, passenger airbag, passenger seatbelt and cross traffic warning indicators do not work. This presents multiple safety issues. The vehicle has been diagnosed by Ford stating the damage was caused by rodents entering the passenger compartment through the outside vent of the heating system. My vehicle has been repaired three times for the same issue. Ford has refused to warrantee any damage and has tld me to turn it in to my insurance which I had done. This has caused my insurance premium to increase due to the claim. I have all the documentation from the occurrences and the transcript of my conversation with Ford customer service. I want at minimum the vehicle fixed or replaced at Fords expense. Previously Ford had spoken with my insurance company and told them the harness needed to be spliced, they did not replace the entire harness this caused the rodents to return and damage more of the harness. .

22 Seat Belt problem of the 2022 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 02/26/2024

This vehicle was purchased new during April of 2023. Since the date of purchase it has been and continues to be impossible for a heavyset person to fasten the seatbelt while seated in the right rear seat. This is due to the following facts. The seat belt buckle at that location only is physically different than all the other buckles in the rest of the vehicle. This renders a standard Edge seatbelt extension unusable at that location only. While a part number exists for this unique, single location application seat belt extension, the part itself does not actually exist. Despite having been on "backorder" for nearly one year now, Ford is evidently refusing to manufacture and/or supply this vital safety appliance. Accordingly, the fact remains that, each and every time our heavyset family member rides in the right rear seat of this otherwise wonderful vehicle, their life is potentially at risk! I checked with the parts department at riverview Ford in oswego, IL yesterday and was told that "the part is still on backorder with no eta. " your help is respectfully requested in resolving this crucial safety issue. Sincerely yours, thomas a. Brandt, 2516 waterford drive, crest hill, IL 60403-0822, (815) 483-4000 cellular (text and voice), baseballislife98@juno. Com.

28 Seat Belt problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/17/2023

I have a 2016 Ford Edge. Bought my car 2018. I have never used the back seat driver side seat belt only a few times. When I switched my daughter out of her car seat(who was born the year I got my car) I had no need for the seat belt. Until now when I switched her to her booster seat. Now the seat belt lap strap is locked and not able to come out. There for I can't use that seat at all. And have to put her in the middle. My son is too tall to sit in the middle seat. But too young to sit in the front. I took my car into the dealership and called a different dealership and they said the seat belt may be an aftermarket. They had never seen one that has the airbags in them. So we need to order you just a normal seat belt, and it's on back order. So now I have to wait god only knows how long.

29 Seat Belt problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/11/2023

Faulty drivers seatbelt. The seat belt will either have a tremendous amount of slack to where it provides no restraint. This is concerning in the chance that an accident occurs; the chest strap hangs onto my lap. Or it will do the exact opposite and not give enough slack to buckle and gets stuck in the retracted position. When this happens I cant even put on my seat belt, giving me no choice but to ride around unsafe. My fear is getting into an accident and not having this critical piece of equipment protect me. There is also the concern of being pulled over and ticketed for not wearing my seat belt. Given that this is the drivers seatbelt malfunctioning, it’s unavoidable, it’s not like I can sit somewhere else to buckle up properly; especially if I am out already and just trying to head home when this occurs. I have spoken with Ford motor company twice about this (7/11/23 and (6/12/24) and opened up two different claims, but because this does not fall under my warranty it’s not covered? I stressed that this is a safety concern not wear and tear. Neither time that I called was this issue properly handled. Does it take a major accident, injury and lawsuit for them to take a customer seriously when they are reporting safety restraint malfunctioning? they were unwilling to help solve this issue, and this raises serious concerns for me as well as anyone else who owns this model (or a Ford in general). This should at least be a safety recall. Instead they are charging the owner to replace their faulty safety harness.

Driver seatbelt retractor sticks and strap will not come out only in situations where car heats up. After car cools down while in shade a/c or overnight it works. Having no seat belt causes a safety problem and a legal issue with mandatory seat belt use. Dealer in ellijay ronnie thompson Ford confirmed the issue but said we would have to pay for problem-. This is a Ford Edge problem I have seen from other posts on line. Problem started about 3 months ago. This happened with no warning.

34 Seat Belt problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 04/11/2023

Driver seat belt locks in retracted position and unable to fasten. This occurs often a heat soak on hot days. Forces operation of vehicle without use of seat belt to get home from work. After vehicle cools overnight the seatbelt unlocks for the next day, but has reoccurred 3 times in a week. No warning lights except for fasten seat belt warnings. The obvious risk is to the driver not being able to wear a seatbelt. Took the vehicle to dealer today 4/17 as it is a safety item, but was told that unless they find something nothing will be done.

35 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 04/07/2023

On April 7th my seat belt receiver (where the seat belt clicks into) broke. It broke with just normal wear and tear, my car has 83k+ miles. The seatbelt would not fully engage and the seatbelt light was coming on every two minutes while driving. I called downtown Ford (sacramento) and they said that because my car was outside their 60,000 mile or five year warranty that this part was not covered. I paid to have the part replaced which cost $95. 81 for the part and $221 an hour for labor. The total was $324. 19.
