Failure Date: 05/14/2019

I am not sure if I am using the correct website or correct form. I was involved in a very weird car accident. My Ford Escape suddenly run to the side (as I was driving on ice) is there any help to fix this?. I was driving north direction. The posted speed was 25 and mine was 20. This happened on north leland st in san pedro, CA 90731. Looks like a mechanical fault. I am not sure what was wrong. I have a police report. Thank you very much!.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2015

We opened the hatch window and the glass popped out into my husbands hands. The door ajar kept ringing because the glass wasn't in place. Since the same thing happened to my husbands 2001 Escape in may 2015 we knew that parts were available, however expensive. The body shop that we took the vehicle to advised us to check if there were any outstanding recalls for this since it seems strange for both vehicles to have the same problem. The window hatch isn't something that we generally use so it isn't from over use.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2015

Vehicle make clunk noise when shift gear in drive/reverse vehicle steering shaken/making squeeky noise.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2015

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2014

In 2001 Ford Escapes a misfire occurs and cause the fuel mileage to decrease. It also causes the car to shutter at idle when it is cold. After checking message boards it appears that more than a handful are having the same exact issue and despite changing any parts accept the connectors and pcm the issue still occurs. The number of cars effected by this is more than just a coincidence and should be listed as a factory defect.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2014

While going down the road 60 miles an hour at night time a deer ran in front of the car. My son jammed on the brakes skidding a distance hitting the deer. Because of jamming on the brakes my son hit the steering wheel with his face causing injury to his neck, face and head. His seat belt was on and the airbags never went off. He skidding a distance swerving right to the edge of the road hitting a metal bar at the edge of a driveway. I sent a complaint into the NHTSA and was told the air bags wouldn't of gone off. I also have a picture of a friends Ford truck going off the road at 60 hitting a house and the airbags never went off. So the excuse the airbags wouldn't go off hitting a deer is completely wrong. Figure out the force of jamming on the brakes at 60 miles an hour skidding a distance. Ford has a problem and should stand by their vehicles. You have lost a few customers because of the lack of standing by your product. I am sending complaints to whomever I can because I know the NHTSA would do anything.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2014

Going approx. 25 mph, slowing to a stop sign. Applied brakes and passenger tire made noise and u joint busted. Rim//tire was positioned incorrectly. Rust is visible. I need to know if this is related to Ford recall of Escape suvs due to rust that could cause the separation of the lower control arm from the subframe of the vehicle. The recall covers vehicles sold in states where high corrosion is likely to occur. My vehicle was purchased in bradley, IL. What do I do??.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2013

I have a 2001 Ford Escape XLT and just recently my vehicle would not exceeded 20mph while driving on an even road and would not exceeded 5-10mph on a small hill. I had the vehicle taken in to be evaluated and am told that two of the catalytic converters are bad and need to be replaced. I did some research and have noticed that many 2001 Escape owners are experiencing the same issue. Is there anything that the Ford motor company can do to rectify this situation. I have had my vehicle since June 17, 2011 and till now have been very satisfied with the vehicle but I am not sure what I am going to do.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2013

My pcm has failed. I understand that this is a known problem with the Escape for over 5 years. I would like to see if there is any adjustment or recall for this as I know of many failures. I enter my complaint to see if it will help others, and perhaps initial a recall and a credit for this very expense repair.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2012

The two passenger side doors will not open from the outside. You can open the doors from the inside but the handles on the outside no longer function to open the doors. In addition the rear hatch has a mind of its own. Most of the time the hatch can be opened even when the car is locked and on occasion the hatch will not open for a couple of days. It is a mystery as to when it is going to do this. I could open the hatch and an hour later not be able to open it at all. Because of this anyone can gain access to my car at any time if they so chose. When I called Ford in 2015 they told me I am not part of any recall.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2010

I bought my Ford Escape on August 16th of 2009, all the doors worked fine. I have not been in any kind of accident. About a year after buying my car the back driver door stopped opening, for no reason. Then the window in the same door stopped working. I didn't make a big deal about this, even though I had two small children in the back. Then shortly after, the other back door seized to open. This happened in the summer when the temperatures are warm. When I push unlock I hear clicking from the doors. Then not to long ago my fiancã© and I went out to dinner and locked the car doors, after leaving the restaurant he tried to unlock the doors and they wouldn't open. He had to crawl through the window that is broken to get the passenger door open for me. The driver door now don't open. The only door that works now is the passenger door and the back hatch. I also have other recalls I need to get repaired and have not brought it in cause of the driver door not opening. I know I didn't do anything to cause this problem and when I researched it online I found that a lot of people with my car are having the same problem. Therefore I feel this needs to be addressed. I'm afraid to drive my car and if there was an accident I wouldn't be able to Escape my Ford Escape. In addition I just want to say that even though my vehicle has a lot of miles on it, still runs good. Thank you for your consideration, sincere consumer.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2010

Despite numerous calls to Ford, I still receive recall notices on this vehicle, however it was a cash for clunkers vehicle. I participated in this program and the vehicle was permanently disabled back in 2009/2010.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2008

Stuck accelerator - Ford Escape my husband and I were driving over dead man's pass in oregon. A treacherous pass even on a good day. Ford Escape 2001 accelerator got stuck at 80 miles p/h. My sister and her family were following behind us. My husband insisted that he could drive the out of control car into lagrande to the Ford dealership. I was scared to death and demanded he try to get the car to stop and let me out . He did this by putting car in neutral, turning it off, and coasting to a stop (I think). I got out, crawled into my sister's car shaking uncontrollably. My husband did get the car into lagrande. As he came into the lot, it was screeching sideways, tires smoking, and nearly tipped over. The Ford dealership fixed it - at great expense to me. I paid the mechanic's bill, plus took a flight to pendleton, then a 1 hour shuttle to la grande, oregon, then drove home 4 hours. 5 years later I still have "accelerator anxiety. " about 2 years ago, I got a recall from Ford. I took it dealership here in portland. They looked at the mechanic's receipt and said the problem that was fixed, was not the same as the recall and would not reimburse me.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2008

This vehicle was involved in a fatal one-car crash on I-96 on March 4, 2008. The accident was reported as loss of control at a high speed, and at the time, there was no suspicion of a mechanical issue. Then in late July 2012, the recall notice for the Ford Escape with v-6 engines, model years 2001-2004, was made public (recall no. 12s37). We now have concern that this accident may have been precipitated by a vehicle malfunction. We have no evidence to this; however, the vehicle that was declared 'totaled' is still on the road and has since been in another accident. We feel obligated to bring this matter to the attention of the NHTSA, and ask that you look into this matter for the safety of others. .
