Underhood Wiring problems of the 2001 Ford Escape

1 Underhood Wiring problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2006

: the contact stated while driving in stop and go traffic, the vehicle had a rough idle and stalled intermittently. The vehicle was taken to dealer for inspection; however the problem could not be duplicated. After a short period of time the vehicle had the same problems again. The vehicle stalled and was towed to the dealer. The dealer replaced the pcm but this did not correct the problem. The dealer stated the wiring under the dash needed replaced. There is a NHTSA recall 04v165000, regarding the power train: automatic transmission: control module pcm and a NHTSA TSB item #617976, regarding the electrical system: wiring under dash. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall and technical service bulletin; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. The consumer was informed the vehicle had an electrical short. Updated 04/11/06.

2 Underhood Wiring problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2002

After being parked for 2. 5 hours, our less-than-2-years-old Ford Escape spontaneously smoked and burned; small fire was stopped by fire dept. ; have no word from dealer or Ford as to why this happened (fire dept. Suspected electrical short) -- do you have any other such reports?.

3 Underhood Wiring problem

While driving, vehicle stalled, consumer states all electrical systems failed, vehicle would not restart, consumer lists stall occurred due to electrical wiring problem under the hood.

1. ) complete loss of power and all electrical systems while vehicle was being operated. Vehicle refused to restart; and 2. ) gear stick shakes or shimmers vigorously when engaged in third (3rd) gear.

5 Underhood Wiring problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2001

6 mos old veh; 4700 miles; engine has stalled on 3 separate occasions (mid-Jun, mid-Jul, early Sep) while traveling at 45 mph; original dealer could provide no solution; currently being evaluated at 2nd local dealer; seeking guaranteed resolution; replacement vehicle or refund.

6 Underhood Wiring problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2000

The dealership told me its a problem with the computer and the Ford engineers are working on it. The car chugs when going long distances when you try to accelerate. I have had the problem since I got the car.

7 Underhood Wiring problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2000

During a collision on front part of vehicle caught on fire, causing total loss of vehicle. Also, consumer sustained injuries.
