I bought a 2005 Ford Escape the VIN number on the dash and the title do match however the ecu and the door jamb VIN fmyu02z56ka33314 which is for a 2006 Ford Escape 4 cylinder 2. 3. The vehicle I bought should be a 6 cylinder with a 3. 0 l the mechanic says mismatched VIN the dealership refuses to listen. About the vehicle on November 25th 2025 drove it 30 miles then was able to call the mechanic for some maintenance as his car was for my daughter and that is when I got to bad news of a mismatched VIN. Not even your odometer reading is correct has less on it now than it did back in 2018 and it's documented as accurate.
Front subframe rusted out causing loss of steering and control. Car came to a complete skidded stop . The front wheel nearly came off. The subframe issue is the same problem that resulted in a recall of the 2001-2004 Ford Escape.
The right back tire shock and spring mount broke right off.
This is 2nd time this week car gives no warning, stalls, shuts down while driving for no reason. Happened to a friend about 1 mile from our home. Just totally shuts down. After about up to 10 minutes, able to restart and return home, was mid morning. Last night at 9pm we were driving down about 1 mile from home, no warning and stalled and shut down. We were terrified, was pitch black, no lights and almost ran off into a ditch! had to used the light on my phone to shine in case traffic was coming. After about 10 terrifying minutes, car restarted and we were able to turn around and return home. This 2005 Ford Escape is unsafe to be on the road or driven. Its unknown what the problem is and in frar for my life and others if its out on the roads.
Control arm snapped and frame broke.
My 2005 Ford Escape was sitting in my carport for 2 days. I went out to go to the store and the back window was shattered in a million pieces all over the driveway and back bumper. That was also glass inside the car. I called the police and they came out and looked at it and took pictures and I took pictures also they said it had not been vandalized that it must have exploded from the inside out. I read about a lot of other people having the same problem. Ford needs to have a recall on this. It could have happened while I was driving or children could have been hurt sitting in the backseat this is not like.
When going to pull out of the gas station with my 2 youngest children my Ford Escape would not go into any gear or reverse. Never gave a warning sign sound or anything just would not go into gear. Below is the recall information and what the part is and what the problem is and can cause. Power train:automatic transmission:gear position indication (prndl) recall for 2005 Ford Escape recall announced September 29 2015 NHTSA reference #15v606000 if the shift lever disengages from the transmission, a driver may be unable to shift gear positions and the indicated shift position may not represent the gear position the vehicle is in. Should a disengagement occur while the vehicle is being driven, when the driver goes to stop and park the vehicle, the gear selection indicator may show that the transmission is in the "park" position, but the vehicle transmission may not actually be in the "park" gear position. If the vehicle is not in the "park" position there is a risk the vehicle will roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders. Power train:automatic transmission:lever and linkage:floor shift recall for 2005 Ford Escape recall announced September 29 2015 NHTSA reference #15v606000.
Rust through on right rear wheel well and shock tower. Car only has 100,089 miles. Has been kept clean and was bought from carmax in2013 in excellent condition. All repairs, maintenance performed by professionals since bought. Research shows this to be a common problem with this model. (in addition to the door open/alarm problem others and I experience) this is a safety issue that could result in serious injury or death as it involves the rear shock possibly dislodging and rear end collapsing. Please look into this and make Ford fix this problem! many owners bought these vehicles used and we cannot afford to fix these( if they can be fixed at all) much less buy a new vehicle.
Back window latches metal on the hinges of window completely rotted out, every time car is driven I have to worry about the window sliding out, I cannot open the window because it will fall right out. I know other years of the same make have had the same issue.
Cross over on passenger side rusted in half, the exact same thing that waste called on the 2001-2004,my wife was driving with two of my grandchildren with her when it broke, this is very dangerous and serious situation,I feel Ford should fix my vehicle,it was manufactured in2004,I will take it to court if necessary, innocent people could get killed,it is the exact same recall as the year before and was manufactured in that year of the recall my Escape has no other rust on it anywhere,I have pics to prove it,my wife was just getting ready to turn into a driveway from a city street.
Subframe on passenger's side rotted/ rusted, broke suddenly while driving down busy road and was unable to steer.
Front sub frame on passenger side rusted threw and went into ditch because was not able steer.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, there was an unknown warning light with a red triangle displayed. The contact turned off the vehicle and waited for approximately 15-30 minutes before the vehicle would restart and function correctly. The contact replaced the battery however, the failure persisted. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the shift lever would disengage and that the hybrid battery needed to be replaced or the vehicle would no longer be operable. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.
There were a few incidents where my 2005 Ford Escape was stationary/ in park and it said that my car was in reverse. When I put my car in reverse sometimes it would go into drive. There was another incident where I was in park and my car randomly went from park to reverse to neutral and back to park on its own. Lastly, when I try to reverse it would not reverse and stay in neutral.
Excessive wheel well/shock tower rust located in the rear passenger side. I have heard a clunking sound when driving; brought it to my garage; they showed me the pictures of huge gaps in the wheel well that were completely rusted out. My understanding is there was a recall on Ford Escapes (2001-2004) but Ford forgot to do a recall on the 2005 Escape model. This is a very common problem with my vehicle.
This 2005 Ford Escape(and others according to the internet) completely shut off while I was driving. I was merging onto a highway going 60 mph and it just shut off. Luckily I was able to pull over and 2 cars narrowly missed me. It just completely killed w/o any notice which is an extremely dangerous condition because I, or someone else, could've easily have been hurt.
I have had to replace the flex pipe at exactly once a year, every October for the last 7 years. I think this may be something to look into. Also the rear wheel wells rusting out along with shocks. I once again have holes in the right wheel well.
Hit a pothole and my shock/strut punched thru the rusted wheel well and detached otaelf. . . It is np longer safe to drive and ive only had the car for 2 months. And here the 2001-2004 Escapes have been recalled for just this reason? why not the 2005 when the whole body design is the same. . . I had a 2001 Escape before this that was rusting on the outside wheel wells and beginning to rust inside as well. . . Due to this I dont believe I will be buying Fords anymore. . . I was in the car with my kids when this happened! and now im stuck with a giant piece of metal sitting in my parking spot as no one will take on the job and if they do it would be a min of $2000 or more!.
2005 Ford Escape. Purchased with a car loan in 2012. @ 40,000 miles. $$ kept all regular maintenance up. $$replaced battery & had $$all brakes done front & back in 2014. $$paid off loan in 2015, & 2016 rolled over to 95,000 miles. . $$had to replace alternator & battery & $$redo the brakes in 2016. $$in 2018 had to replace alternator again. . (note: during all these years the check engine light was constantly coming on & showing check emissions system. . Bringing up all sorts of fuel & emissions codes. $$replaced 4 different fuel related parts as well). In 2019 all brakes failed! & had a near crash! $$having to replace the brake lines. Then in April 2019 driving an alaska mountain pass in a spring winter storm! major breakdown!! lost all power with no control of steering or braking. . Panel was lighting up on & off like a christmas tree! engine chugging & sputtering like getting no fuel but also not getting the power to keep running. . $$left stranded 500 miles from home. $$had to get towed back home! to have a pcm burn up! $$new/remanufactured pcm, $$new alternator, $$new battery, $$new coils!! still did not run right! check engine light still coming on only showing check emissions system, but all parts replaced! engine sputtering but no code on diagnostic machine to give right correct problem or how to fix!$$$!! 6 months later, replacing alternator yet again!! $$4 alternators one in 3 years!! $$3 coils replaced. & engine is still not running right!! seems once this pcm goes out. . It's all over for this vehicle!! nothing is keeping it going anymore, $$just a moneypit of endless fixing & breaking down on the road! not to mention how it stalls out in mid driving at high speeds! leaving you with no steering or brakes or power to stop! and then crash!?! I'm feeling left in the dust by Ford company with no compensation on over $20,000 spent on a Ford Escape that can't run!.
While driving the car on the freeway the car jolted. After 3-5 more miles the car kepped jolting as if it wanted to die then lost all power, even the emergency lights wouldnt come on. Once I turned the car off it turned back on fine then continued the process. The car for no apparent reason died on the freeway and I could have been in an accident to where my life was almost lost. I made it to my mechanic shop they ran the care for codes and no codes came up at all. My mechanic has done research and found that some 2005-2008 fored Escapes have recalls. He feels as my car is one because my car has the exact same symptoms as the recall. In this article I have had all of these issues. The 2005 Escape has problems where the engine shuts down while driving. Ford finally issued a September 2014 recall. Time will tell if the recall fix really solves the problem. However the 2005 Escape also has a defect where the pcm (power control module) fries at around 100k miles. Ford extended the pcm warranty to 80,000 miles, but only after most owners were past the mileage limit. Now owners are on the hook for the average repair cost of over $2,000 (!!).
I am trying to find out what is wrong and if there are any recalls. . My SUV has a vibration when I excel rate and let off it which shakes the wheel. I had it checked and they can't find anything. . What is this problem,I have just bought the car in Dec 17. . Ty.
I have the same oil leak problems other customers is experiencing what the 2005 Ford Escape oil leak around in a cooling sensor crankshaft valve cover gaskets or seal seat as well as I'm experiencing the problem with the stalling gas pedal sticking and won't move it just stiff and I can't press it at times I am spirits the same because the other customers have had on his vehicle for these issues that I'm having and I was wondering why my VIN number is not pulling up these recalls for my VIN number as well as the oil leak heaven to do the overheating over the pressure pushing through the crankshaft and making a oil pressure week as well as the other problems that I have with the recall so go to customers has experience with the stick and gas pedal won't let you go nowhere is stuck.
Ford recall.
For the last 2 months I have been driving at highway speeds and my car will stall out when I come to slow down on the highway. My car has stalled out while exiting the highway about 4 times I took it to two separate mechanics and also to a Ford and they ran it on the computer and there were no problems reported. After retrieving my car from the diagnostics my car again continue to stall six more times and then afterwards began to decelerate on the highway causing me to get in and near accident.
The message center keeps saying "rear right door ajar" and it isnt and the alarm seems to go off without any provication of any kiind, no reason. It isn't something I've done.
In the process of driving home from work last Saturday, I noticed wind noise coming from my sunroof. When I opened the shade to look, the glass popped out and landed who knows where. I couldn't find it and it was already dark. My car is a 2005 Ford Escape with a webasto hollandia 700 installed sunroof. I have tried contacting webasto north America at their number numerous times. They never return my call.
My 2005 Ford Escape ltd with 122k miles with no warning stalls when I come to a stop, or when I'm going less than 5 mph. The vehicle has done then same thing when I was driving 65 on my way to lax, had to pull over to the shoulder and was almost side swiped and rear ended by cars. No check engine lights illuminate, nor can the mechanic find anything wrong. After doing research I've come to learn this is a very common problem among this year and model, yet Ford will not address the issue with a recall. This is dangerous, I'm scared to drive my vehicle. There are thousands of complaints on the internet about this vehicle with the same issue. Something needs to be done. Ford is in the know. I'd like to see some action being done.
My car is rusted out on the right rear wheel well. My shock are banging with a loud bank. The whole inside is now rusted out and the is a hole that goes to the trunk area. Price are just falling out.
I was pulling out of my grandmothers driveway and heard a loud banging noise. Once getting out and inspecting I noticed on the back right passenger side it was rusted out and the shock mount was detached. Why are there no recalls with all the compliants? some people can't afford $1,500 repairs on a car when the manufacturers used bad undercoating.
Bought used the vehicle intermittently would stall, put in neutral it would crank right up and idle fine, until you put in gear and it would stall out, wait awhile and it would run fine, and it might go 2,3 or 4 weeks and not stall. Now it will not go at all, cranks up put it in gear and it is like it is not getting fuel and stalls out. I have had it to some repair shops and they can not find any problem, but I have one mechanic telling me it is the torque converter and might as well redo transmission also. I am disabled and a veteran on a fixed income and depend on my vehicle to take me to my doctor appts, grocery store, church etc. So any help or information on this issue would be greatly appreciated, also I don't know if it makes any difference but my father worked for fmc for 48yrs.
My Ford Escape limited has a random problem with the shift lever button not engaging from a parked position. It's nearly impossible to make the button push in to select a gear (r, n, d). Also, the ignition switch will not release the key after vehicle has started and I've arrived at destination, put the vehicle in "park. " I have to struggle for several minutes to get it to finally release the key. Otherwise, I have had to leave the vehicle with the key in the ignition. It's been like this for the past year or so (especially on cool/cold mornings). Stereo system has a mind of its own. Press any button and it will go into "load a cd" mode. Why?????.
Travel north on southfield service drive the truck speed up I got it to stop before hitting a truck a head of me. The light change crossing grand river making a right on to fenkell the truck speed up again under able to stop. I hit a truck in the rear I was hospitality over night.
The passenger side rear wheel well rusted out causing the strut to break through the trunk of the car . It also have bad rust on the other side wheel well. This happened while I was driving on the hwy. Upon taking it to an auto body shop was told the vehicle was unsafe to drive.
The rear window of my 2005 Ford Escape xls just exploded today around 2:30 p. M. I had arrived about 2:15 p. M. At mcdonalds restaurant. I was sitting with a friend when an employee came into lobby looking for the owner of the gray Ford Escape in their parking lot. I said, "yes it is my car. " employee then came and told me that the "rear window of my car was broken all over the parking lot. I went and saw what happened. I have not opened the rear gate or window in over a week. All I did was park it and in 15 minutes of being inside of mcdonalds the windshield exploded. I have read where other people with Escapes & mariners have been having this problem for year. Years older than my 2005 and as new as 2014 & 2015. Is their a recall that Ford is fixing this problem, as they obviously have known about it for years. Please let me know who I contact to be reimbursed for my expense of replacing it. Deborah smith 330-330-1001 or d. Eborah_martinelli@yahoo. Com.
