1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2025

My 2007 Ford Escape hybrid (mileage currently 180,000 but the issue started around 150,000 miles) will occasionally (varies from once a week to once every 3 months) not respond properly when I'm accelerating from a stop. When this happens, I can push the accelerator all the way to the floor, but the car will accelerate very slowly for the first 5 seconds or so, and then start accelerating normally again. When this issue first began, it nearly resulted in multiple crashes when I was pulling out into traffic, but now I leave lots of extra space when pulling into traffic in case this happens. I've taken the car to an independent mechanic to try to diagnose the issue and they were unable to observe it since it doesn't happen frequently or predictably enough. There were not any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the issue starting.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2024

Rear frame rails rotting thru from the inside out, causing potential suspension issues.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2021

Vehicle lost power unexpectedly in traffic several times. Once stopped it started after a pause and ran fine for a considerable time until if failed again. When researching online noticed that this year and model had a recall but that is not reflected when I ran the VIN of my 2007 Ford Escape hybrid. My concern is the diagnosis at the dealer will not detect this and could result in needless expense which I am not prepared for. The NHTSA has this issue documented and I feel should qualify me to have the coolant pump replaced on a recall before a serious accident.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2020

For years my alarm goes off randomly, during the day to all hours of the night. When I'm driving the car the light inside will go on and off and on dashboard will say door ajar. I've called Ford, I've asked the dealer and I've asked mechanics not with Ford. Since the alarm is built into engine it can not be disabled. Only option is to pull horn wire so my neighbors will not be annoyed by my horn and alarm soundings at all hours. I've researched for years how to try to fix this issue, I've changed my car battery, I've changed battery in remote. . . Nothing is working. Now the dealer is telling me there's a problem with the latch. Had my car in there many times for different things, but I refuse to pay 800. Per latch in the vehicle, since they're not even really sure it's a latch or which latch would be the problem. I'm very leary about disconnecting my horn for safety issues, but I'm let with no other choice. From what I understand this has been an ongoing issue with the Ford Escape for years and years. Now it's a safety issue not just annoying to my family and the neighbors.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2020

The alarm goes off at all hours every day for no apparent reason while locked & parked. The dealership had no way to fix it unless the horn was disarmed. I feel that is unsafe to have no horn.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2019

White parked with the alarm on, the alarm goes off for no reason & the lights continue to flash possible running down the battery. This happens almost daily, even more than once a day while at work. Sometimes too far away for me to hear the alarm.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2019

I purchased this car from a 2nd hand dealer and after 2 months I noticed a strange noise from the rear right side. Come to find out, the rust on the under pending of this car was hazardous. The whole body underneath was corroded. One of the shocks was barely holding on. If it has completely snapped, it could have cause a sever accident to me and my 2 year great niece, and injured someone else. First notice of this, I took to the dealer. They took pictures and was going to find a welder. A week later is when the part came loose more and the welder said it was unsafe and beyond patching up. A call was made to the dealer to inform them that the car was unsafe and not only because of the shock but the under pending was rusted out. Another mechanic prior noticed the parking brake had rusted out and crumbled along with the brake dust plate. It crumbled and some of the pieces along with screws were caught in the brake drums behind roter. I complained to dealer and they gave me another vehicle to trade, one I really didn't want. They gave me no choice. This vehicle had no air, the windows do not roll down, and the wheel bearing was bad. I didn't want to be without a car due to multiple upcoming doctor appointments. They were aware of a rare condition I have that prevents me from being in the heat but they could not offer me anything else. If so I would have to make payments. The Ford Escape was paid in cash all up front. I feel cheated and had their been an accident I am sure more money would have been collected from this dealer for the suffering of my family had it been fatal. Vehicle was in motion. Also after contacting the dealer to inform them of the shock about to fall off, they wanted me to drive it to the welder. After the welder told them how unsafe it was, instead of them having it towed, they had me drive it and hour and a half to them. I was scared.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2019

The theft system randomly sounds off for no reason. The theft light keeps blinking as the key is placed in the run position. The vehicle is having issues starting and there's no sound at all when turning the key. When the vehicle does start it stalls, so the gas pedal must be pushed almost to the floor. I must apply strong pressure to the breaks, so that I can stop and not crash. The problem is not changing and other ownsers are having these same issue with this truck. I've already had the battery checked, starter replaced, purchased a new key , and fob.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2017

The gas pedal sticks often, and feels as if something is under the pedal, stopping it from being depressed. This causes sudden reduction of speed and then sudden acceleration when pressing hard to get the pedal to go down. Ford previously recalled throttle body's in Escapes from 2009-2012. I believe the 2007 Ford Escape model should be added to that recall! this is a true safety problem! mine has being doing this for about a month and has gotten way worse so it will need to be fixed.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2017

Bad rear door switch. I bought my SUV used on July 14, 2014. The dome light kept going off or staying on. The doors would or wouldn't lock. The horn would go off randomly. This is all within the first three or four days of my owning it. I took it to the dealer and it took them a while but they finally realized it was a bad rear door switch. The dealer fixed it at no cost to me, but I saw the bill was about $600. Shortly after that the horn started going off again. My friend has a 2006 Ford Escape. She has been having similar issues. She said the horn was the weather induced. I have noticed that when the seasons change that my horn goes off more often. One day I was visiting her, and my horn went offf, so I used my key fob to turn it off, but nothing happened. That's when we realized it was her car going off. Barely a couple minutes later, her horn went off again. She went to turn it off and it wouldn't work, because this time it was my car. This year has been the most obnoxious yet. My dome light, keeps going off and on whenever it feels like it. The horn goes off all the time. 5 am, 2pm, 9 am, so far it has always been parked. And the light on my dash, keeps telling me that my door is ajar. It has been doing that almost nonstop for a couple weeks now. I don't even check the doors anymore. A couple days ago I had a friend in my car, the car beeped and the door ajar light came on. I assured her that the car was confused. Then while driving 70mph down the highway I noticed road sounded extra noisy, as if I had a window open. Then I realized her door was open, so she quickly opened and reshut it while I was driving. I've looked at this problem on the internet. A lot of people with I believe 05's-08's are having similar issues. They usually just override the wiring in the rear door switch. I don't want to get it fixed with a brand-new defective rear door switch.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2017

The car stops actsr a few corners because of transmission problem. Doesn"t make any difference, shether it turns or not. Around 10-15 minutes later it starts again and have the same problem. Presently it's parking on the street and it's unusable.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2016

The rear window exploded this morning. We live in the country so it wasn't due to any outside disturbance.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2015

The Ford Escape,4 cylinder front drivers door latch and passenger rear door latch faulty causing door lock alarm to sound the horn various times of the day with vehicle parked and locked by key. Has occurred in the last 4 months (June,July Aug, sept 2015) some days multiple alarms then a dry spell then at 10 am and then at 3 pm same day or different day. All while parked in the driveway.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2015

I had just pulled out of the gas station when my back glass exploded. I was the only vehicle there and I was hardly even going 5 mph! I immediately exited my vehicle to see if anything had hit it, and there was nothing in or around my vehicle except for shattered glass. The glass was every where; inside the back, on the bumper, and even on top of the roof! I'm not the only one who has experienced this issue! william Ford and mark fields, I want this fixed! if my two year old were in the car he would be covered in glass! this is a safety issue!.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2014

Rear window exploded while parked overnight in garage. No apparent reason.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2014

O/d light came on suddenly. Was driving at 40mph. I could feel it dropping out of gear, being slow to accelerate and it would rev periodically. I called Ford corporate, they took down the complaint but other than that; nothing. We did a simple google search 'Ford Escape 2007 o/d light' and immediately saw at least sixty comments that all detailed the exact same problem (which is catastrophic failure. The rep from Ford had never heard of this before, which is odd considering the number of people who all have Ford Escape's & all are 07. Something is very wrong & a recall should've issued.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2014

Upon reversing from a parked position and then slowly moving forward there is a loud rattling sound, my daughter who has the same vehicle purchased one month prior to mine had had the same problem and was required to have the motor mounts replaced. I am sure that if two of us had the same problem so must other Escape owners. It cost my daughter $1000 to have hers replaced, unfortunately I am unable to afford that so my vehicle sits idle. As far as I am concerned this is an extremely important safety issue for which I believe should have been recalled.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2014

My daughter was almost killed when we tried to pull into traffic and the throttle stuck. She is learning to drive and did not know how to handle the car not starting when she pressed the gas and then it suddenly lurched into traffic. It is a problem with the throttle body identical to the recall for the 2001-2004 Escapes. I called the Ford dealership and it is 500+ to fix. This car only has 85k on it and I find this a huge safety issue. Since I cant afford to fix it now it will sit in my drive way. Thanks Ford.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2013

Many of the cases include the illegal activities of Ford and their neglect to handle any of the issues. One of the cases included a teenage girl having the same vehicle as myself. Her parents had reported the issues to Ford and they never fixed the problem(s) to make this one story of many short. . . The girls car broke down while she was driving home and from the case her phone did not have reception. A man was driving by and she hailed him to pull over and he ended up raping the girl and murdering her. The family was blamed and Ford was not properly charged. There were other cases I studied that involved Ford that include mostly the transmissions lighting on fire and killing the individuals. This is beyond a reasonable doubt that Ford needs to be face judgement under the supreme court for this gross negligence. They have let several innocent people die while they are pocketing millions of dollars. Every time I have contacted the dealership or gone to them in person they try to raise prices on simplistic parts that you can buy cheaper online or at walmart. They charge fees for every single thing; even if your fully covered with insurance it still is not much of a difference. They have hidden importing parts from third world countries and it is about time that they are exposed for all their misconduct; as I do not find it in any way for anyone nor a company to let innocent people be murdered. It is a felony under the law of the united states of America. The court cases date back decades, if their workers could not fix the "issues" years ago and they even had issues the last year with several teenagers going to their prom that resulted in death as well then I would state beyond a reasonable doubt Ford company should go out of business and make sure they pay every penny back to all the victims including myself and others that purchased their toy cars.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2012

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the vehicle's alarm functions independently. The failure happened without warning. The failure had occurred approximately 12 times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 99,000. Kh.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2012

Car surged forward and was unable to control it without applying both the brakes and accelerator at the same time. Was somehow able to get it home. I thought it was a transmission problem but after reading about other complaints online, I think it was the throttle. I could see where this could lead to an accident. I traded it in and purchased a 2012 Ford Escape that my son drive and I am concerned about this occurring in this vehicle as well.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2012

Just bought the car. . . I was driving from l. A. To palm springs . . . After about an hour on the road the car just stalled while driving on the freeway. . . . I pulled over and started the car again it was fine for 10 min then did it again. Started again and drove the rest of the way at 40- 50 miles an hour with hazards on. Problem seemed to stop as long as I drove at this speed and was not on an incline of any type. Car pulls at times but mostly drives fine if I'm not on the freeway and if I don't drive over an hour at 60mph. Otherwise it stalls out at unexpected moments on freeways. A very unreliable vehicle and very dangerous!.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2011

I own a 2007 Ford Escape, in which I purchased as a new vehicle in 2007. Within 500 miles of that purchase date, I ended up bringing the vehicle back to my dealership (prestigue Ford) dallas, texas for repairs. The trouble was that the ac went completely out. Due to the warranty they repiared it. On 5/4/11, the ac went out again in which I sent it to an automobile ac specialist which diagnosed the problem as a ac compressor with clutches out. My vehicle is less than 4 years old and has 66,000 on it. There is no way that the ac would have gone out this early in its life. I would like to speak with someone to report this issue as it may be a trend towards a recall. I can be reached at 214-406-8527. I should not expect to pay for a $1200. 00 expenditure on a 2007 vehicle with less than 66,000 miles.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2009

There has been multible instances where the gas peddle cannot be depressed. No matter the amount of pressure applied. It has occurred both at a standstill and while in motion. I have read its a possible throttle body problem not sure. First occurance was during cold weather however it has occurred during warm temps ie 85degree oustide tempature. It happens and then there is no problems for a long time maybe months, however if it were to occur during a merge this could be very dangerous and possibly deadly. Please look into this as there is already multible recalls on Fords acceleration systems in this model from prior years.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2009

Original owner stated that after she had had the car about 18 months it had just stopped on her several times when she was on the highway with and without the warning light coming on first. The vehicle was checked out by a Ford agency in virginia and they could not find a problem. Apparently, it had happened several times again between 2010 and 2013, it was checked out by a pennsylvania Ford dealership and again, they found nothing wrong. She stopped driving in 2013 the car was sold to a friend when it had about 127,000 miles on it. After using it for about 3000 miles and several months while on a highway going about 60mph the warning light to pull over at once came on. He did, turned the engine off ,waited 10 minutes and started it up again. He then proceeded another 20 miles or so and the same thing happened. The local Ford dealership then said that the "motor electronics cooling pump" was defective and needed to be replaced. Apparently, it is a common problem. My question is that if it is such a common problem, "why hasn't there been a recall?" this is potentially extremely dangerous! why should the customer have to pay over $800 to have a known defective part replaced? I feel that Ford has been grossly negligent in not acting on this.
