Two problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 2008 Ford Escape. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2008 Ford Escape based on all problems reported for the 2008 Escape.
Upon exiting my vehicle in a parking lot and approaching the rear drivers side door I observed a dripping of liquid coming from the area in front of and toward the inside of the drivers side rear tire. I felt it was gasoline and immediately contacted a local dealer to get a diagnosis and repair. The result was that the fuel tank on my 2008 Ford Escape was leaking. After the dealer service investigation it was reported that it came from an area on the side wall of the tank and was rust through. The area did not appear to have proper coating on it.
At outdoor temperatures below 20 degrees f the fuel tank is nearly impossible to fill. At 0 degrees f it will take over 30 minutes to fill. I am concerned that at some point it will not take any fuel at all.
