Talked to wes studer (service manager) autonation Ford regarding issues encountered. Service recall dates back to Nov 16, 2017 where recall issue was not completed correctly. We had contacted autonation Ford to address this fuel leak issue. Original recall (16s41) description was about fuel leak underneath the vehicle and after service recall completed in 2017 the issue persisted. This would have caused gasoline leakage causing dangerous condition operating vehicle. This has also been fowarded to NHTSA.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2017

Wrench and engine light is on in car. Completely stalled in traffic. P2118 code was diagnosed and the throttle body system is stuck open.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2017

While driving, the wrench light comes on and the engine loses power. When I turn the engine off and back on the light may go out but will come on again after driving. I was told by the dealer this is problem with the throttle. I have had this repaired twice, the first under a recall. I had to pay for the second repair. Now it is happening again all within about 2 years. This is very dangerous while driving in traffic and at highway speeds. I was told that this is due to a faulty part that Ford knows about. This needs to be corrected ASAP before someone is seriously hurt because of it.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2017

While driving my 2010 Ford Escape xls 4 cylinder , the truck stalled and cut off during driving. Lucky I was able to pull to the side of the road. I started the truck back after 30 minutes, the truck drove and again with no warning the truck started to stall and cut off. The just started to happen out of no where. I bought the truck used and still paying on it. The warranty that I purchased ran out at the beginning of this year. This was a very dangerous situation; this happen right during rush hour traffic and by the grace of god I was able to pull to the side. I did manage to get the truck home but after reading multiple complaints regarding the same issue, I feel like this should of been looked into by Ford for a possible recall. From what I am getting this is from a known issue with early model Ford Escapes "electric throttle body". I was on a street when this occurred while driving straight at 34 to 40 miles per hour.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2017

I had to have the throttle body replaced at 75000 miles. It cost us 218. 00 I have the receipt.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2017

The a/c broke just 2 months after purchase, and the dealership told me it wasn't covered. I have clients and children in my vehicle daily, and in the extreme DC heat it can be very dangerous with only hot air blowing out of the vents. This is a terrible problem, and I was told it is a manufacturer defect, which means you should recall these vehicles to be repaired. I am unable to afford it on my own, as I just purchased this vehicle 2 months ago!! this is horrible, Ford should recall these immediately!!.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2015

I had turned off the highway and was traveling down a busy road when my car completely stopped without warning. Luckily, I was in the right lane and on a bit of a downward slope and was able to steer the "dead" car off the road. I turned off the engine and waited a minute. I turned on the car and it started again. I am concerned as I do a lot of highway driving and if my car suddenly stops like that again, there could be dire consequences. The earliest a dealer can look at my car is January 8th. My local dealer - January 14th. Today is December 28th. After reading some of these reports, I am afraid to drive it. Meanwhile, I need to rent a car, until someone at a Ford dealer is able to look at it this is not the first time this has happened. However, after previously having the car towed to a dealership - I thought the problem was resolved.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2015

Was completely stopped and took off slightly pressing the gas peddle and it felt like it tried to stall out and then lunged forward. The service wrench came on and we stopped and turned the vehicle off then started it again and that time both service wrench and service engine light came on. Went in to get the engine light tested and the result was throttle actuator control and throttle body range, code p2119.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2015

In July 2015 after leaving golf mill Ford in niles, IL. For an oil change and tire rotation I drove through some construction mud and got home to clean the mud and noticed rust above the tire on my passenger rear wheel well, where I would have never looked otherwise. I called the dealer and went back and they put a claim to Ford. After one month Ford called me to tell me that because it was past 5yrs that they couldn't do anything. It could have been there before 5 years because it's a place where most car owners don't look. After researching on social media I see that there are thousands of Ford Escape owners with similar problem. There is no doubt in my mind that Ford failed to make these vehicles properly and they should do a recall on all these vehicles and stand behind their product. I take very good care of my vehicles, washing and doing regular maintenance and it is also garage kept always. I am utterly upset with Ford because they are just ignoring it and don't care. Something needs to be done about this. The cars made in recent years should never have rust in that short of time. My previous vehicle was a 1997 Ford explorer and was 12 years old and there was not a speck of rust on it. Please help me and other owners with this issue !!!!!.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2015

My car cut off while I was driving & when I was at a stop light. The car came to a sudden stop in the middle of an intersection (completely losing all power) a large SUV swerved to prevent from hitting me. I immediately took the car to the vic bailey Ford, they kept my car on & off for 5 days. Charging me $98 for a diagnostic test (that they stated revealed nothing about the problem) & then they turned around & charged me $130 for a new battery, the car continued to cut off on me. They kept my car for another 3 days. Finally they called me & told me to come pick up the car. The service dept. Stated that they didn't know what was wrong w/ the car, but they knew something was wrong w/ it. They told me to wait til the problem got worst. They sent me home w/ a car that cuts off constantly, they don't care that I need to drive a dependable car.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2015

The car suddenly accelerated, I had to slammed on the brakes and place the car in park to avoid hitting another car. These 2010 Ford car is very dangerous and very harmful to anyone who drives it.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2015

Purchased 2010 Ford Escape XLT in April 2015. (1) vehicle had sound coming from engine when accelerating. Issued fixed by dealer replacing belt tensioner but noise has since returned. (2) vehicle already had or developed constant vibration at idle when in drive and foot on break and gets worse with a/c on. Took to dealer 3 times who stated they replaced right engine mount and rear transmission mount but vibration continued after repairs. Service dept tech stating that there is a strong vibration but that they are unable to determine engine vibration but that vehicle is operational. Vibration is very strong and almost feels like engine wants to turn off at times. If transmission is put in neutral or park then vibration is gone and not noticeable while driving. (3) transmission shifting from 1st to 2nd is harsh and delayed at times causing a jerking motion on numerous occasions during city driving and transmission occasionally jerks when put in reverse but not always consistent. Safety concern is vehicle feels as if it may shut down while this vibration is being observed and causes safety concerns when driving vehicle and that transmission may fail soon. Purchased at fiat of fresno, fresno CA.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

I pulled out of my street on to a main road and with no warning my Escape shut off completely while driving and multiple cars almost hit me because it was so unexpected. Now my car randomly shuts off and goes into limp mode, causing it to be quite dangerous to drive my vehicle because it gives you no warning.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2015

After loading the vehicle, I shut the rear gate. The rear window exploded upon impact and shards of glass flew all over the street and the back of the vehicle scaring the kids.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2015

Took my car to harrold Ford on howe avenue dealership and was told that the car has been worked on and picked up the car and didn't get far and the car stalled. Re-started the car and barely made it back home and called harrold Ford and told them what had happened and they told me to bring the car back and we had it towed to their facility again and received a call in the afternoon and was told that the car is ready to be picked up and we drive over there and the car stalled after a couple of blocks and had it towed to their facility again and the next day we received a call from harrold Ford and told us that there is nothing they can do for us and to pick up my car. " your car is a salvaged title" we took the car home via tow truck and we had a mechanic take a look at the throttle body and he said that it was never replaced! I feel that the couple of times that we drove that car put me and my grandchildren in a great danger and I thank god that we didn't get into an accident and the car only drove 2 blocks and I told harrold Ford that we brought my car for recall parts and now my car is not even driveable. Totally dead!.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

For the first time the engine completely shut off while driving, I was turning left onto my mother's street, going approximately 20/25 mph. There was no warning, the vehicle just shut off while driving. I was able to turn the car off, put the vehicle in park, and restart the car without a problem. It happened again about 4 weeks later and again, I was going slow as I was in my parking garage at work, approximately 15/20 mph when my car shut off while driving without any warning signs. I put the car in park, restarted and started driving again. As I was approaching another level in the parking garage, the same thing happened-the car shut off. I was able to put it in park and start driving. This is a huge safety issue as cars have almost rear ended me and I drive with my 2 young sons in the car. Previous to these incidences I took my car to Ford for recalls regarding the throttle body, which can apparently cause this problem to occur.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2015

Driver side door fails to lock or unlock with key fob and the driver's side door also fails to lock with the automatic safety feature that locks doors when driving this is a constant problem.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2015

My 2010 Ford Escape has been stalling!!! I have already got the throttle body update last week! that is not the fix. I have had issues with my car (the transmission was bad- recalled, the steering wheel locked up on me driving the highway at 70 mph with my kid- recalled, the throttle body- fixed last week in the customer satisfaction update/recall) and yet it is still stalling. This is very dangerous and just an accident waiting to happen. This 5 year old car has been nothing but a death trap for me and my toddler. No one can tell me what is wrong with the stalling. I am taking it in yet again in hopes someone can tell me why my 5 year old car is shutting down on me. It shakes really hard like it's going to explode and then smells like gas before it shuts off. I have been beyond frustrated with this 2010 Escape and can't get rid of it because everyone knows all of my issues with it. If my daughter and I die while in the car. . . . . It will most likely be Fords fault with as many problems I have had. Please please recall whatever is causing these cars to shut off while driving. . Read more...

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2015

When closing the rear hatch on my 2010 Ford Escape, the rear window exploded leaving glass shards throughout my driveway and out into the street. There was nothing blocking the closure and normal force was used to close the hatch.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2015

Rear glass exploded for no reason.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2015

The rear window of the car suddenly exploded. I closed the tailgate, and a moment later, the rear window exploded without provocation. More of the shattered glass went into the car than went outside it. It did not injure me, fortunately, but hundreds of shards of glass went everywhere. The most ridiculous thing was that there was no seeming cause. Nothing was touching the window. The temperature was chilly but moderate (40's). There was no indication that anything was amiss; the window just exploded. Looking online, it seems that this problem has been reported in 2010 and some 2011 Ford Escapes, and there was even an inconclusive investigation in 2011 by the ntsb. But at this point, there is no recall on the window.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2014

My car was parked in front of a friends house and we were unloading bags from the trunk. A friend closed the trunk (not just the window, the entire door) when the back windshield exploded shooting shards of glass all over the ground, my car and the people standing nearby. No one was seriously injured thank goodness but we were all shocked. The door was closed in a normal matter but it sounded like a gun had been shot into the window when it happened. We had no idea what had just occurred but after looking into it myself, many other Ford Escape owners seem to have had the same issue with their windows exploding for no apparent reason. This is a huge safety issue as well as an inconvenience. What if someone had been sitting in the back seat or my dog had been in the trunk where she often sits? they would have been severely cut by the flying glass or worse. Ford is a large company and for the most part has a good reputation. Why would they allow an issue that has been going on since 2005 go on like this with no apology or recall? it is sad that large companies take advantage of customers and allow them to pay exorbitant fees for a mistake on their end. Shame on you Ford.

69 Equipment problem

My car cut off while I was driving & when I was at a stop light. The car came to a sudden stop in the middle of an intersection (completely losing all power) a large SUV swerved to prevent from hitting me. I immediately took the car to the vic bailey Ford, they kept my car on & off for 5 days. Charging me $98 for a diagnostic test (that they stated revealed nothing about the problem) & then they turned around & charged me #130 for a new battery, the car continued to cut off on me. I'm an educator/state employee that doesn¿t have all this money to keep putting my car into the shop & missing days from work. They don¿t care that I have a young son who rides in that car w/ me to school. They don't care that by driving that car my life & my son life is (was) put in danger. All they saw was a black single mother that they thought they could tell anything to. I have spoken with the service mgr. (no help) Ford rep (no help) the customer service mgr. (no help). It is awful, that in 2015 an America woman is treated w/ such disrespect & pushed to the side. Ford made this car, they sale this car, so they should be able to fix the car. Ford should make reliable cars for the consumer. Who is suppose to help when the big vic bailey Ford, vic bailey Honda, vic bailey Ford repair shop, Ford motor company, & Ford service all do nothing to fix this issue? by putting this information out to the public I hope to make others aware of the treatment that I have received & make sure this doesn¿t happen to anyone else.

70 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2014

Immediately after having two items fixed that were recalled on my vehicle, (throttle body etc), the check engine light came on. I thought it was something done while fixing recall items; however, the Ford dealership service dept advised me that it was not due to the recall items fixed. Also it would cost $527. 00 to fix, as the flap inside the nozzle/flex fuel pipe was not closing properly. I showed my anger and disappointment - which at that point, the service manager advised that my car had a white funnel that they would use to try to undo the flap. It worked. Why in the world did they try to get me to pay $527 without first trying the funnel. Another client in the service dept advised me to do the funnel thing before the service guy did. He has had the same issues. As of this morning, however, the check engine light is on again. I am going to try the funnel first, before I take it to my personal mechanic. I feel assured that I am not the first Ford Escape 2010 owner that has experienced this issue. Please check into recalling this problem. Thank you very much.
