Fuel pump cracked (part #pfs534) in 2010 Ford Escape hybrid 2. 5l engine similar to recall on other Ford Escapes with 3. 0l engine. Cracked fuel pump caused vapor leak engine light. Vehicle would still operate but strong fuel smell was coming from the fuel tank area and within the vehicle. I was surprised that the recall only impacted 3. 0l engine fuel pump and not other Ford Escapes, especially when it seems like they are having the same problem and likely have a very similar part.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated that he smelled fuel and he noticed fuel was leaking above the rear wheel on the driver's side of the vehicle. The dealer avis Ford 29200 telegraph rd, southfield, mi 48034 (248) 355-7500 stated that there was no recall and the contact would be responsible for the repairs. The contact called the manufacturer and was told the same. The contact had the repairs done at an individual mechanic. They had to replace the fuel pump that was cracked on the top side. I am contacting in regards to the Ford recall 270277; fuel system, gasoline:delivery:fuel pump. My gas cap light came on last September and when I took it into my regular shop they were able to repair it, however, as this as before the recall was sent out, I had to pay out of pocket. This was a significant cost and I would like to be reimbursed. I am attaching the receipt here with a description of the repair which matches the description of the recall. When I searched how to address the situation, this is the first option that came up, if there is somewhere else I need to reach out to, please advise. Thank you.
