Failure Date: 11/25/2020

Driving on a off ramp suddenly lost all power steering no warning my young daughter was driving and could barely control/maneuver the vehicle this is clearly a problem with Ford Escape hence the recall on 2009-2011 models why aren't the 2012 models included, this very unsafe!.

3 Lose Power Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2019

The area of most concern is the issue with the steering. Eight months ago, I suddenly lost power steering just after exiting a freeway. Now it is making the same sound again and my mechanic feels the wheel may lock completely. I drive mountain passes, which makes this exceptionally dangerous. Contact with local and corporate Ford says it is my problem to get it over an hour away to the dealer, and repair will be at my expense, even though many people have had this same issue. To make matters worse, I learned only after contacting Ford about the steering issue, that there is a safety recall on the fuel module, which could cause fire. I received no notice of this until I reported the steering issue to the company. The dealer tells me it will take four weeks to get the parts to fix the safety recall. In the meantime, I am losing income every day as I drive for a living. No concern for the safety of me, my family, or others on the road.

4 Lose Power Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2018

Lost power steering while driving. Very difficult to control vehicle. Prior model years were recalled for similar problem with electronic power steering assist.

5 Lose Power Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2018

Made a complete stop at an intersection and experienced a total lost of power steering. Can't drive vehicle, can't steer it.

6 Lose Power Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2017

While driving my 2012 Ford Escape on my town streets, the vehicle suddenly and without warning the vehicle lost power steering. Fortunately, I was able to control the vehicle to a safe stop. I turned off the ignition and waited awhile and restored the vehicle. Just as suddenly as it occurred the problem disappeared and I was able to drive to my destination. This is the third time this same thing happened to the power steering. My Ford dealership has looked at the problem and says that their computer can't find anything wrong, therefore, no repairs are required.

7 Lose Power Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2014

While driving at 70mph I lost power steering. Almost in accident with barrier. At first I thought car shut off, but realized could still steer with great difficulty. Took vehicle to shop and was told ecu was bad, $1050 for repair. Researched online and the 2008-2011 was on a recall for a torque converter issue. Call Ford to no avail. No warning lights appeared, nor did the check engine light come on. Dealer found code stating the ecu was bad? waiting on part.
