Steering Rack And Pinion problems of the 2014 Ford Escape

Power steering fails intermittently when in motion and turning. . . Sometimes before pulling out. This has been diagnosed by Ford as a rack and pinion issue with a repair quote of $2,164 to replace. The car has under 69,000 miles.
