The contact's daughter stopped and parked the vehicle. The contact's daughter performed an inspection of the vehicle. The contact's daughter attempted to roll down the front driver's window and noticed that the glass had fractured inside the door panel. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,111.

2 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2022

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Escape. The contact discovered a vertical crack in the middle bottom section of the windshield. The contact stated that the crack had formed without incident and was likely caused by a design defect. The contact stated that the crack obstructed her vision while driving. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The windshield was not repaired or replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
