Side/rear Glass Problems of Ford Escape Hybrid

Parked the vehicle in my driveway. Opened the rear window to get an item from the back of my vehicle. Closed the window, and the window exploded and the glass shattered into small pieces inside my vehicle and all over my driveway. Most of the glasses remain intact on the window but was only barely hanging. The shattered pieces came mainly from both sides. It happened around 5:20pm and the temperature was around 30 degree.

At about 6:30 pm this evening, a friend and I went to the car to go to store. We opened the back hatch and put in a couple items we were planning on returning in the back. My friend shut the back hatch and the back window shattered violently sending glass in all directions. Both of us were hit by flying glass pieces. The glass shattered in so many small pieces that it was throughout the inside of the car and covered a radius on her driveway and lawn of about ten feet. There is no logical reason why the glass should have shattered - there was no obstruction or any noticeable issue with hatch before it happened.

I was driving home around 9 pm. It was about 40 degrees outside and the rear defroster was on. My two kids were in the back seat and my husband was in the passenger seat. The rear window of my 2006 Ford escape just shattered. We pulled over to see if someone had thrown something at the car, but there was nobody around except a father and his young children. He hadn't seen anything but said he heard the window break as we drove by. There was glass on the inside and outside of the car. I am thankful that my kids were not hurt, but I am shocked that something like this could happen. I looked this up online and have found many other complaints of this same thing happening to other people.

31 degrees driving 5 mph. . I had a 45 min commute to work had the defrost on when I left home. . Got to work and my rear window exploded while driving in the parking lot. No other moving vehicles around and smooth well maintained parking lot. The glass went in billions of pieces outside on the ground for about 10 feet back and inside all the way to the front seats of the car.

The rear window of my 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid shattered for no apparent reason while I was driving it this morning. I was traveling on a paved road doing approximately 70 kms/hour. I did not hit anything nor were temperatures extreme. The sound was like a rifle going off and glass shattered everywhere.
