Brake Foundation Components Problems of Ford Escort

The contact owns a 1997 Ford Escort. When making a right turn at various speeds, the contact heard a clunking sound coming from the front end ball joints. The dealer stated that the brake pads, rotors, drums, and front wheel bearing on the passenger side needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the odometer and speedometer have both been replaced three times, but she does not trust that the speedometer is currently working properly. The failure mileage was 115,000. I was stopping for a traffic light. I slowed down and was coasting to the light. When I pressed down on the brake it made a loud noise and didnt stop. I put my left foot on top of my right foot on the brake and pressed down as hard as I could. It still wouldnt stop. I finally managed to get it into park. It stopped the car inches away from the car in front of me. After the light changed, I sat there not able to move. Finally I had to. I moved a little tested the brakes and they worked. I went to the next light turned off and went shopping to calm down before trying to drive home. I was going to take the car in on mon 8/12/2002 to have it checked. I went to my drs office first. I didnt have my foot on the gas. I had braked the car to slow it down. When I pressed down on the brake that sound started again the car roared and got faster. I was trying to push it into gear, but it hit before I could do it. I reversed it got off the wall. The brakes worked fine. The air bag didnt open up the front is badly damaged the dealer could give an estimate at least 2000 but it will be more. They couldnt find anything wrong with the brakes. That is scary, they are going to fix the body but it will be like a death trap not knowing when the brakes might fail. I was in that car both times. I was not in a hurry; everything was fine until that noise started. I was not going fast both times that it happened the car was coasting I had braked to slow down. Then that loud sound and the car just took over refusing to stop. I was there and I scared me badly. I was there and I scared me badly. Has this happened to some one else???.

Brakes failed, resulting in a frontal collision. Upon impact, driver's airbag did not deploy, causing injury to the driver. Also, rear seat collapsed. Dealer has been notified.

The car that I had purchased has not lived up to it's expectations since I purchased it. Since I have had the car, I purchased it in sept. Of 1998, the brakes have completely gone out, the emergency light comes on constantly even thought the emergency brake is not on. When purchasing the car, I had explained to the car dealer the I, being of only 19 yrs of age and this being my first big purchase I could not afford to buy a car then end up having to put tons of money into it. I am very upset at the fact that I have had the car for only a short while, the warranty has passed (how conveinient) and I refuse to be held responsible for a faulty sensor.

Theere is a loud cracking noise coming from the steering gear. Also, consumer is having problem with brakes, and the vehicle has been in the shop two times. Dealer can't determine the problem.

Owner's son was driving the car and the steering wheel and column locked up, forcing him to go off the road. Also brakes failed to operate properly.

When you try to stop the car take long time to stop,water leak from windsheld,trunk,front end left side make loud noise,car make nocking noise,when hit speed bumb stario change on it's owne to tape,front driver door leak& more.

When applying force to the brake pedal goes to the floorboard, causing extended stopping distance and brakes fade away. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer adjusted the rear brakes.

Brakes failed, causing accident.

Intermittently when the brakes are applied vehicle makes a popping noise. The dealer has replaced various parts of the brake system. The manufacturer has been notified.

Consumer is having constant problems with the brakes. There is no noise. But in order for vehicle to stop, pedal must be pushed all the way to the floor. Automobile has been taken to the dealer on four different occasions. Dealer has not been able to find a remedy to the problem. This is causing consumer fear of driving, and could result in a serious accident.

Brakes failed and vehicle rear ended another vehicle at 25mph, and airbags on both sides did not deploy.

When applying brakes they locked on one side, causing vehicle to go into a spin, and resulting in a collision/ rollover. Driver sustained minor injuries. Vehicle was totalled. Please provide further information.

Brakes grinding and glazing constantly , taking longer to get stopped, other times it grips to hard, when I take it in they delaze them, and tell me it is normal, I've taken it in twice in Dec for problem so far, taking back again Friday. I'm afraid it's going to cause an accident if I have to make a quick stop. Was fine for the first 5 months, but they insit it is normal.

Engine check light comes on, indicating brake failure and leaking fuel line. Light still on after brake cylinder repair.

Brake system experiences continued extended stopping distances. Mjs.

Brakes pull to the left when engaging.

At any speeds brakes will continuously fail, causing a longer stopping distance which could result in an accident.

Consumer states vehicle has been experiencing brake problems.
