4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1998 Ford Escort

The contact owns a 1998 Ford Escort. The contact stated while sitting idle at a traffic stop with the brakes depressed, the vehicle abnormally accelerated to 80 mph. The contact was able to avoid a crash by weaving in and out of traffic and attempted to shift into park but to no avail. The contact then engaged the emergency brake with the assistance of the passenger. The contact stated that there was very little brake fluid in the vehicle but enough that the brakes should have stopped the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected at a local repair facility where the contact was informed that the throttle body and exhaust/ gas recirculation flaw were defective and possibly the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer was contacted to report the failure. The contact stated she did not feel safe driving the vehicle. When pressing gas accelerator pedal, car does not move. Car hesitates when starting from a stop. Occasionally (about 1 of 2 times) the car will shut down and check engine lights and other service lights appear. The transmission was replaced once already on 11/29/00. Transmission further complained about on 1/15/01 and 8/9/01 - told there was no problem. The car has been towed by aaa twice in past two weeks. 5 mechanics cannot diagnosis the problem. Also, when car is idling, in gear, the whole car shakes.

There was a fast idle, vibration in steering wheel, burning smell coming from the engine, and the vehicle stalled along with the fast idle. The service dealer stated the vehicle had run fine. After five attempts to remedy the problem, and after being told repeatedly the vehicle ran normally, the consumer would like a full refund. The pcv was replaced, and the vehicle had run perfect until the fast idle had returned along with the vibrations which irritated the consumer which caused headaches after 20 miles of driving. The valve assembly/crankcase ventilation regulator was replaced as well. Mr scc.

Consumer states radio caused battery to drain and speakers to pop, radio replaced 3 times, experiencing other electrical problems with the headlights dimming when the heater is on or when applying brakes, radiator had to be replaced, engine lights come on intermittently, and poor acceleration when going up a hill.
