The contact owned a 2002 Ford Escort. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact's vehicle rear ended another vehicle. The driver of the contact's vehicle and four occupants in the other vehicle were injured. Medical attention was received. A police report was filed. The air bags deployed on impact. The contact owns a 1998 Ford Escort. The contact stated while sitting idle at a traffic stop with the brakes depressed, the vehicle abnormally accelerated to 80 mph. The contact was able to avoid a crash by weaving in and out of traffic and attempted to shift into park but to no avail. The contact then engaged the emergency brake with the assistance of the passenger. The contact stated that there was very little brake fluid in the vehicle but enough that the brakes should have stopped the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected at a local repair facility where the contact was informed that the throttle body and exhaust/ gas recirculation flaw were defective and possibly the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer was contacted to report the failure. The contact stated she did not feel safe driving the vehicle. When pressing gas accelerator pedal, car does not move. Car hesitates when starting from a stop. Occasionally (about 1 of 2 times) the car will shut down and check engine lights and other service lights appear. The transmission was replaced once already on 11/29/00. Transmission further complained about on 1/15/01 and 8/9/01 - told there was no problem. The car has been towed by aaa twice in past two weeks. 5 mechanics cannot diagnosis the problem. Also, when car is idling, in gear, the whole car shakes.

On two occasions, as I was waiting at a red light, foot on brake, my vehicle tried to accelerate on its own accord. In one of these instances I hit the rear of the vehicle in front of me. There was no damage to either vehicle.

The caller says vehicle vibrates when it is in idle. Also when vehicle is at a stop light or signs the steering wheel shakes uncontrollably. This happened for the last 6 months and it became worse. Dealer said there was nothing they could do to fix it. The manufacturer said it was a characteristic of the vehicle, and it could not be fixed.

The vehicle accelerated and lurched forward while pulling into a parking space, causing the vehicle to hit a brick wall. Upon impact, both frontal air bags failed to deploy. The driver sustained minor injuries, and was transported to the local hospital. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified.

The fuel pump was replaced 20,000 miles ago; dealer will not honor warranty. Dt.

There was a fast idle, vibration in steering wheel, burning smell coming from the engine, and the vehicle stalled along with the fast idle. The service dealer stated the vehicle had run fine. After five attempts to remedy the problem, and after being told repeatedly the vehicle ran normally, the consumer would like a full refund. The pcv was replaced, and the vehicle had run perfect until the fast idle had returned along with the vibrations which irritated the consumer which caused headaches after 20 miles of driving. The valve assembly/crankcase ventilation regulator was replaced as well. Mr scc.

Vehicle lunged forward while in neutral, causing a front end collision with garage wall. Dealer has been contacted, and informed consumer that oil pan was dented. Also, vehicle will not shift into reverse. Please provide further details.

Consumer's wife attempted to back out of driveway into road, she stepped on gas, and nothing happened. Then, after jugging gear shift around vehicle accelerated forward. The vehicle accelerated hitting the corner of the garage and was tottaled.

When stopped with foot on brake pedal, engine does not "idle down"; if placed in neutral or park, engine will race up to as much as 3500 rpm. First experienced this problem on 3/23/99. . . Veh. Was placed in shop @ akins Ford in winder, GA (where purchased) and they replaced "tps and cleaned throttle plates. " all o. K. Until 4/4, when problem reappeared. Car will literally pull itself along in first gear.

Vehicle would accelerate. Would start revving at stop light/sign. Manua clutch makes noise. Speed not a factor. The brakes would jerk & jiggle when applied. Had rattle in right front after repairs. Was informed that was normal.

When pulling out vehicle lurches forward. This may cause a crash. Also, engine check light stays on. Dealer cannot determine the problem.

Started vehicle on morning of 1/28. Revving at extremely high speed. Thought that something (throttle?) was frozen. Drove 2 miles to service station. Tech worked for 10 days trying to find electrical problem. Towed to dealer on 2/8/99. Dealer could figure out where problem is. Car still with dealer.

While driving at 45 mph vehicle was racing high without no prior warning. Manufacturer was aware of problem.

An electrical short circuit is occurring within vehicle which is causing vehicle battery to completely lose power. Consumer states radio caused battery to drain and speakers to pop, radio replaced 3 times, experiencing other electrical problems with the headlights dimming when the heater is on or when applying brakes, radiator had to be replaced, engine lights come on intermittently, and poor acceleration when going up a hill.

Accelerator causes car to surge forward or backward at a high rate of speed, depending on gear. Happens 9 times out of 10. Have lost control of vehicle three times on ice this winter, and had repeated close cals, especially when reversing. Took car to Ford dealer where bought, and told it is model defect and not fixable. The engine revs high without gas pedal being applied. Vehicle also accelerates after brake application. Dealer can't fix problem.

While driving the vehicle and upon letting up on brakes the vehicle lunged forward. Dealer informed consumer that this was the nature of the vehicle with manual transmission, however consumer adds that sometimes the vehicle will not idle down when not touching the gas pedal.

The car is constantly shaking, once you put the gearshift in drive. Car was checked and reviewed by mechanic through the computer. The tps was replaced. The motor support rubbers are ok. Went to Ford dealer and they do not find how to fix the problem. This continuous shaking movement is really annoying.
