1 Gasoline Engine problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2007

Blast from engine at 45 mph while driving on snowy/icy bridge christmas night 2007. No where to pull over. Bounced off snow pile and with momentum crossed over bridge. Still in traffic and several near misses later highway patrol found me and diverted traffic. Spark had blown right out of engine but still attached to coil. Gas exiting and ignited with each spark firing. Vehicle now at Ford dealer. Greater than $4,000 repair. Service writer says spark plugs blowing out of engine and disabling engine with possible fire has been common on 2000-2005 Ford truck engines. Ford needs to be pressed for recall. Not enough threads to hold spark plugs in long term on original equipment. Common expectation of serviceability is that spark plugs and ignition fire stay inside engines. Consumer affairs web sight list hundreds of complaints on this issue.

2 Gasoline Engine problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2006

2001 Ford Excursion: accelerated after turning a corner and a spark plug blew out. Had been highway driving for 60 miles prior to the failure. The engine still ran but did not run smoothly. The threads were damaged and a new plug could not be inserted. The head is being replaced with a new head from the dealer at an approximate cost of $3800. Nm.

3 Gasoline Engine problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2005

Driving on level interstate highway with cruise control set at 70 mph. Heard small explosion similar to tire blowout. Immediately pulled over to side of road and checked engine. Found that the #3 spark plug had blown out of the cylinder head. Had vehicle towed home. No repairs made at this time due to holidays.

4 Gasoline Engine problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2004

Ford Excursion 2001 v10 Ford v10 engine oil coagulates due to poor oil flow and seezes engine. One mechanic told me he had at least ten on his lot with the same problem. The only solution given is replace the entire engine. An expensive solution. I have read many testomonials on the web of people complaining about this same situation. Hopefully I can get some help with a recall or class action suit.
