Tire Tread/belt problems of the 2001 Ford Excursion

1. I have a 2001 Ford Excursion. I had firestone steeltex a/t lt 265-75 r16's all the way around my vehicle. We were driving on the highway and had a blow out; it was the right front tire. We got out looked at the tire and the tread had separated. The steel in the tire torn up the undercarriage and wheel well and did a lot of damage underneath and to my grill guard. Within less than 50 miles, my other front tire went out. But with this one the tread was pulling away and falling off (again tearing up the body as it went). The tire never blew but the tread did enough damage to my truck that it will have to be fixed on that side also. The body of my truck will need work. When I open my doors they pop because it is rubbing on the frame that has been pushed back. When we got to our destination it was late Saturday so we had to wait until Sunday (which was easter Sunday and not many places were open). We went to sears and had new tires put all they way around the vehicle. We were not going to take the chance of the back ones separating on the way home.

I was driving my 2001 Ford excersion, with my wife and two daughters, on the freeway at approximately 65 mph. The left rear firestone steeltex at tire blew out as a result of the tire tred seperating from the rest of the tire. The vehicle had 49530 miles at the time of the incident. The left rear quarter panel and fender were damaged as a result of the blow out. On 06-20-05, firestone replaced four out of the five tires I had on the vehicle as part of a recall. The spare tire is on oder, because they did not have it in stock.

Consumer goodyear tire seprarated while driving highway speeds. He consumer has had to replaced the vehicle goodyear tires a total of five times (at total of 12 tires). Each time the vehicel was taken tot he tire dealer they determined that the failure was due to tread separation.

Consumer noticed on many occasions that both driver's side and passenger's side tires were leaking air. Consumer drove the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. Firestone, wilderness lt steeltex, p265/75r16.

Consumer had an issue to the terms of agreement for reimbursement from bridgestone/firestone. (nar) the consumer was denied reimbursement because of when he purchased the tires. The problem was due to sudden deflation. The steeltex tires were replaced with equivalent yokohama tires. This all occurred before the vehicle had 100 miles.

Consumer stated while driving at 60 mph the left rear tire tread separated then the tire blewout without warning. The consumer had to pull over. The dealer was been notified (firestone, steel tex at, size p265/75r16).

While traveling about 65mph on the highway and without prior warning left rear tire tread separated from the wheel. The tire was a firestone, steet tex, at#p265 75r16.

Vehicle tire blew out and tread wrapped around right the vehicle was in motion when he noticed a bumpy feeling/vibration. The consumer immediately slowed down and the tire burst and wrapped around the right side of the vehicle and caused an extreme amount of damage. The consumer saw that the tire completely separated. (the tread disintergrated).

Tire failure of bridgestone/firestone steeltex radial, lt265/75rx16d owl all terrain tires. First failure first week of April, second was during second week. Irst was total failure at expressway speed. Second showed tread separation across face of tire.

Consumer had to replace all four tires because they would not retain air. At a later date a recall letter was received. Consumer sent the receipts requested and had been denied reimbursement.

Us marshalls lease a 2001 Ford Excursion from gsa fleet management. They were traveling down a highway when they heard a lound thumping noise. After stopping the vehicle, they exited the vehicle to find out that one of the rear tires tread came off the casing. The tire had not gone flat. When the tread seperated from the casing it had done some body damage to the wheel well area.

As of September 10th, 2002, I have had two tires with seperated belts. I have had my Excursion in two different dealerships due what appeared to be steering issues. The vehicle wonders on the road as if it has bald tires. I had one dealership tell me it is charactoristic of the vehicle. I had a second tell me it was tire pressure and proceeded to inflate my rear tires to 65 psi. I had another dealer this week tell me the two rear tire appear to have issues with the "belts". Now this same dealer just rotated my tires. I started researching for defects and was astonished at the amount of reports out there on the internet. Why is it that your agency is not pursuing these defects? please advise? nlm.

We had tread separation on our left front tire, resulting in a blowout. Firestone, steeltex a/t, lt265/75r16. Near rollover into oncoming traffic.
