Seat Belt Problems of Ford Excursion

While driving along a local road, the vehicle was maneuvered abruptly to the left to avoid wildlife. The rear seat occupant stated that the seat belt "broke". After investigating it was found that the driver side middle row passenger seat belt stitching failed at the point where the belt loops around the anchor point mounted to the floor. The seat belt had pulled free of the anchor point.

Driver seat belt unlatches on occasion after being fully engaged. Similar to the situation that resulted in a recall in 2001. We did take the vehicle at that time for the recall.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Excursion. The contact stated that the rear passenger seat belt failed and thread separated, causing the seat belt to become partially inoperable. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but the vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and the current mileage was 235,000.

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Excursion. The contact stated that three seat belts were fractured, two in the middle row and one in the rear. The contact had become stuck in the driver side rear seat belt and had to cut the seat in order to exit. The other two seat belts are inoperable. The contact owns a 2003 Ford Excursion. The vehicle was parked when the contact noticed the seat belt system was nonfunctional. The defective seat belts consist of; rear driver seat belt, center row driver seat belt and middle seat belt. A passenger in the vehicle was wearing the seat belt and unexpectedly the seat belt webbing became extremely tight and tangled around the neck area which nearly choked the occupant. The contact had concern of the potential safety hazard. The failure mileage was 92,000. The current mileage was 101,000. Updated 05/11/10.

I bought the 2001 Excursion Aug 25, 08. The passenger seat belt dis-engages while driving down the road. Ford said their is not a recall on my Excursion, and the warranty for seat belts is only 5 years.

Vehicle has failed to provide the lower latch system attachment points. Ford motor company describes the part as an accessory that has to be custom ordered before the vehicle is manufactured, therefore they will not install in our 2003 vehicle, even though the law for latch was in place in September 2002.

My husband was buckling our 3 year old in her car seat in our 2002 Excursion and the seat belt detached from the frame of the car. Left 2nd seat: seat belt bolt (location-retractor attached at frame) was either not properly tightened, locked tight improperly applied or nut is ill-fitting causing nut to separate from bolt, possibly related to pivoting retractor design. Seat belt detached at retractor and became unusable. Fortunately discovered while car parked and buckling child into booster seat. If accident would have occurred prior, seat belt would have separated and failed, and child would have been injured or killed! locktight was re-applied and nut was re-attached to bolt at proper torque.

The seat belt broke. Webbing was cut in three seating positions. The drivers seat, the middle row and the third row seat. Second and third row seat appears to been cut with a razor.
