1 Structure problem of the 2002 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 08/28/2006

My 2002 Ford Excursion had a total brake failure resulting in a near fatal situation. When the vehicle was towed to the Ford dealership, they found a manufacturing defect. The plastic wheel well liner on the front left wheel was positioned against the metal brake line from the abs pump and from the vehicle motion the liner had worn a hole in the metal line causing total failure of the brake system. This is a very serious design defect that needs immediate attention.

2 Structure problem of the 2000 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 04/04/2002

While servicing the winshield washer fluid resevoir, I noticed an area of rust located on the right side of the vehicle where the fender joins the firewall. Upon closer inspection, the same problem was observedon the left side. After returning the vehivcle to the dealer for inspection, they noted that they would have to remove both fenders and hood etc. To see how extensive the problem exists. Presently, we are awaiting a Ford representative to view this vehicle and recommend what corrective action will be required. They have had this vehicle in their possession for 10 days. Nlm.

Ltr fm anthony and carol bartleson (FL) re the problems they are having with the dealership re their 2003 Ford Excursion w/defective paint job. Vehicle was returned by the salesman after being cleaned when the consumer noticed a stone ding in the left front fender. From hundreds of thousands of little red rust partials in the white paint to the hood being crooked. The tires weren't replaced like they were suppose to be. The dealership wouldn't warranty the paint job for over a year, no address the concerns regarding the tires.
