23 problems related to suspension torsion bar have been reported for the 1997 Ford Expedition. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1997 Ford Expedition. The contact noticed that the vehicle was leaning to one side. The contact's husband inspected it and noticed that the torsion bar was broken. The vehicle had not been inspected by a dealer/mechanic nor was it repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The current and failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Front sway bar was disconnected on right side. Right side link missing and left side worn out.
Both front sway bar links broken causing vehicle to exhibit extreme lean and sway during cornering.

While driving my vehichle the torsion bar broke. The truck dropped in the right front and I was force to pull over. I work with two others that have Expeditions (1997 and 1998) both have broke the same torsion bar on the same side. They are joe wittig and gary morse.
While driving on an interstate at 65 mph, the right front torsion bar broke and fell out from under the truck in the middle of the road. The torsion bar and the torsion bracket were replaced by the dealer.
