Suspension Torsion Bar problems of the 1997 Ford Expedition

The contact owns a 1997 Ford Expedition. The contact noticed that the vehicle was leaning to one side. The contact's husband inspected it and noticed that the torsion bar was broken. The vehicle had not been inspected by a dealer/mechanic nor was it repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The current and failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Torsion bar.

Front sway bar was disconnected on right side. Right side link missing and left side worn out.

Both front sway bar links broken causing vehicle to exhibit extreme lean and sway during cornering.

Independent front torsion bar snapped while traveling approximately 5 to 10 mph over a speed bump. Please provide any additional nformation/attachments.

While driving at about 20 mph heard a snap and vehicle front end sunk down. Took to mechanic, and they said it was torsion bar.

Bolt on front end sway bar disengaged.

Right front torsion bar broke while driving. Dealer has inspected and repaired vehicle at customer expense.

Bolts for front suspension sway bar keep shreading off which could cause loss of vehicle control.

Front sway bar links have fallen out , causing steering to be miscalculated. Ford has been contacted.

Heared noise on turns and bumps. When inspected saw that torsion bar broke off the bushing.

Torsion bar on driver's side broke in two. Left front side of vehicle dropped.

Front and rear sway bars keep breaking and disappearing. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that not covered by warranty , and any repairs would be done at consumer's cost.

While driving my vehichle the torsion bar broke. The truck dropped in the right front and I was force to pull over. I work with two others that have Expeditions (1997 and 1998) both have broke the same torsion bar on the same side. They are joe wittig and gary morse.

While driving on an interstate at 65 mph, the right front torsion bar broke and fell out from under the truck in the middle of the road. The torsion bar and the torsion bracket were replaced by the dealer.

Pe98009; independent front suspension torsion bar. While driving about 25 mph the independent front torsion bar cracked. The vehicle is being repaired at dealership. Part on national back order.

Torsion bar failed.

While driving vehicle 30-40 mph the torsion bar on driver's side snapped. Dealer noted problem was possible manufacturing defect.

Consumer stated the front torsion bar broke, which caused the vehicle to swerve. Please provide any additional information.

While driving passenger's side torsion bar collasped. The dealer has been notified.

Left front torsion bar broke, causing loss of vehicle control.

While driving over a speed bump at low speed front torsion bar snapped in two pieces, causing t supension to collapse. Ford has been contacted.

Front end began making a popping noise when brakes were applied. This was due to a bad front sway bar. Dealer has been contacted.
