Tire Sidewall problems of the 1997 Ford Expedition

Three problems related to tire sidewall have been reported for the 1997 Ford Expedition. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2010

The contact owns a 1997 Ford Expedition with four dayton timberline ht 265/75/16 tires. The contact stated that on all four tires the sidewall is separating from the rest of the tire. The manufacturer has not been contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

2 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2001

Tread separated. Cap came completely off from the sidewalls. (tiresize: p255/70r16)( dot number: tire size: p255/70r16 ).

3 Tire Sidewall problem

Failure Date: 04/01/1997

Firestone wilderness at tires, size p255/70r16, cause steering wheel to vibrate and shake especially while travelling between 60 and 70 mph, vehicle would pull to the right of the road, these problems occurred for the first 30000 miles, air was leaking through the sidewall causing tires to go flat, consumer noticed cracks in sidewalls, consumer replaced tires with michelins and has not experienced any more problems, 12 tires caused vibration and 5 of those developed cracks on the sidewall.
