Two problems related to speed control cable have been reported for the 1999 Ford Expedition. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Speed Control Cable problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2008

I bought 1999 Expedition and 12 hours later the keys were not in the vehicle 2 cables were sparking and flying by drivers side tire in 5 min the vehicle was gone and on top of that it melt my house. Ford doesn't respond to me after I turn in report. Ford tells me the lady on my case is the only person that talk to me and she won't return my phone calls what can I do? I am a single mother with 5 kids. I don't know if I can live with my depression. Ford are killers my kids could of been in there!.

2 Speed Control Cable problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2000

Upon startup of motor, will not idle or will die completely when stopped at intersection or when releasing accelerator when making a turn, causing motor to die and loss of steering and braking. I have complained to dealer and they said it was throttle body linkage (butterfly) sticking and it has occurred on several of friends trucks as well. Fix is new throttle body part @ $300. , not under warranty. I feel this is dangerous and widespread and should be retro done under an extended warranty by manufacturer.
