1 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2006

We first noticed a problem when it was raining. The airbag light would intermittently come on. Then we also started to notice that the heater / a/c fan would continue to run after the vehicle was shut off. On Sunday 4/30/06, I was driving in the rain on a freeway & the wiper light started to come on & the airbag light was on. Every once in a while, the wipers would not work properly. On my way home, again on the freeway in the rain, the wiper light & the 4x4 light would flash off & on at the same time & again, the at times the wipers would not work properly. The next morning as I drove to work, again in the rain, only the 4x4 light was flashing & the rear wiper would not work. Also, the front wipers did not work intermittently. I specificity recall turning the heater fan off that morning before leaving the vehicle. After work, I attempted to unlock my vehicle w/the remote unlock & it would not unlock. I manually unlocked the vehicle & the dash lights were on. It looked like I had not turned the key off all of the way, but I did! and the vehicle would not start. I had to walk a couple of miles to my husband's work & he had to take his lunch early to bring me home. Ford had better get a recall out on this. Not only is it very inconvenient, but when your wipers don't work in the rain, it is very dangerous!!! I had to get the vehicle towed the next day. After the repair facility sent 2 1/2 days trying to determine the source of the problem, they discovered that water was leaking by the windshield onto the gem module & the fuse panel. Not only do I have to pay $477 for the parts only, I also have to pay to have the windshield resealed. What a joke!!.

2 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2004

The air bag light continuously illuminated on the dashboard. As a result, the air bags were inoperative, and wouldn't deploy when needed. The manufacturer has been contacted but is unwilling to send a representative to look at the problem. The consumer also spoke with the dealer about corrosion on the doors.

3 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2004

The airbag indicator light when on and according to manual it said to bring it in to the dealer. They check it out and found that it was a side impact airbag sensor. This car does not have a have a side impact bag. We were informed that even though we dont have side bag, the front bags would not work because of the way Ford programmed the airbags. I searched the internet and found several others with the same problem with their air bag indictor light. I believe this false indictor could be fatal if not relsoved in a timing manner.

4 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2000

Consumer states that when starting up the vehicle the vehicle tends to jump forward and/or jump into neutral when comping to a stop. On seperate occasions the vehicle has hit other vehicles and also has hit people walking in front of the vehicle. Nlm dealer replaced transmission but problem still exists. On a separate occasion, the vehicle was involved in an accident, causing the air bag light to come on. Consumer states there is a bad odor coming from the a/c unit. Dealer drained a/c unit, but problem still exist. Consumer states that rear window is leaking.

5 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2000

Air bag light will intermittently come on and off. Since 2000, the consumer has taken the vehicle back to the dealer at least twice a year, for this problem, each time the dealer would re-route wires, but problem is reoccurring.
