Three problems related to side/rear glass have been reported for the 2000 Ford Expedition. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2000 Ford Expedition based on all problems reported for the 2000 Expedition.
Driver's side window adjacent to third seat (cargo area) of 2000 Ford Expedition shattered for no apparent reason; window was open for ventilation per design (tempered glass window pivots open about 3" via electric actuator). Speed was 65 mph under calm conditions, smooth road surface. I initially believed I had suffered a complete left/rear tire failure as there was a very loud "bang" and a large amount of debris hurled into adjacent traffic lane. Approximately 1/4 of the volume of shattered glass was hurled into the passenger compartment, primarily in the third row. Fortunately I was alone in the vehicle; anyone in third row would have, at a minimum, suffered lacerations and likely eye injury.
Back window shattered while the vehicle was parked.
Had vehicle parked when rear window exploded for no reason. Had no warning of problems.
