I own a 2001 Ford Expedition. In the years since I have had it I have experienced sudden acceleration numerous times. I have been fortunate in that when the sudden accelaration happens I have been at a stand still at a traffic light or heavy traffic and therefor already stepping on the brakes. The engine will rev up all of a sudden, it has caught me off guard a couple of times because it does not happen often but when it does you can of course hear it, feel the vehicle reving up and see the needles on the meters go all the way to the other end. The times that it did catch me off guard the truck jumped forward in the second it took me to apply the brakes. It has not caused any crash or injuries but I watched a report on nbc channel 2 news in houston and felt I should probably report this in case this is happening to more people with this type of vehicle it could be a serious problem.
The vehicle suddenly accelerated when the driver applied the brake. The dealer was notified.
The contact owns a 2001 Ford Expedition. While stopped at a traffic stop, the vehicle suddenly lunged forward while the contact depressed the brakes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The technicians were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000. Updated 04/06/lj the consumer stated the sudden acceleration happened several times. 04/16/12.
I own a 2001 Ford Expedition 5. 4l and on at least ten different occasions the vehicle has suddenly accelerated. Luckily, every time this has occured the vehicle was at a full stop and my foot was on the brake pedal. The vehicle would surge forward and the tachometer would jump to about 3500 to 4000 rpm. The surge only lasts for a few seconds, but it is enough to lunge the vehicle forward. After the second or third incodent we took it back to the dealership where we bought it (dub miller Ford in rosenberg TX. ) and they said they could not find anything wrong. I don't know what is wrong with this truck, but I would like to get it fixed before my wife or child are injured, this is my wife's primary vehicle and most of the incidents have happened to her.
