Ignition problems of the 2001 Ford Expedition

1 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2006

While driving at low speed, the number three spark plug shot out rendering my 2001 Ford Expedition unusable. Fortunately, I was able to pull off to the side of the heavily traveled road. Upon further research, this appears to be a very common problem.

2 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2006

: the contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the check engine light illuminated, and the vehicle lost speed and began to buck. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic shop, where it was determined that there was an electrical shortage. The number 8, 7, 5, and 4 engine coils have been replaced on the vehicle. The consumer stated the number 7 & 5 coil has been replaced twice. Updated 07/25/06.

3 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2002

Vehicle stalled while driving on highway. Vehicle checked by dealer, who advised consumer that coil pack and plug on one cylinder had a short circuit and failed, causing vehicle to stall. Dealer also advised consumer that this was a common occurrence.

4 Ignition problem

Vehicle was parked in driveway with key removed from ignition. Windshield wipers, radio,and dvd accessory began operating without warning.
