1 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

I have a 2005 Ford Expedition with 84k miles and I was going 30 mph when I lost the gas pedal(power) to my vehicle. Warning light came on and then I pulled to side of road. Lucky I was not hit from behind due to losing power to the engine. Turned vehicle off for a few minutes and then turned back on. No warning light and truck ran fine. Took it to local Ford dealer who for $98 tells me I need to spend another $600 to replace throttle body. After a long discussion with service manager I decided to decline the repair until I contact Ford and national highway safety board.

2 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2010

Driving my 2005 Ford Expedition limited in the morning. After about 2 miles the car powered to a crawl and gave engine fail safe mode alert. Pulled to side. Powered down car and the restarted without incident. A week later the same thing happened again. This is apparently a defective throttle control unit. This description is all over the internet and is a known safety problem as people are reporting that it has happened to them on the freeway. Car is unsafe to drive and even though the problem is well known, Ford company is taking no responsibility. All NHTSA has to do is google "engine fail safe mode" and see the number of problems that come up with same issue. This is definitely a well known safety problem but yet there is no recall. Dealer says throttle control unit has to be replaced at a cost of $514. 61 + tax. This problem may also have taken out my air conditioning. It went out at the same time as the second failure, but dealer (vista Ford in oxnard) is saying there is no relationship. Others have reported a/c shutting down when engine fail safe failure occurred.

3 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2007

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Expedition. When the contact starts the vehicle, the rpm's increased to over 5,000 while it was in gear and with the brake pedal depressed. When the vehicle was placed into neutral, the failure ceased and the vehicle drove normally. The failure was intermittent and the contact has not been in any crashes. The vehicle has been diagnosed by the dealer several times, but the failure continues. The current mileage was 33,000 and failure mileage was 17,275.

4 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2005

The transmission would stall and not go forward in the drive gear. Stalled in the middle of an intersection with the family in the Expedition. Had to drive home in second and first gear. Vehicle is 27 days old with 952 miles purchased at billinglsey Ford in lawton, ok 73501.

5 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2005

The car was sitting and running for more than 10 minutes near a building. The car was in park. The owner was unloading the vehicle, and then walked back into the building. The owner heard a boom, and came outside and saw that the car hit a fan, and almost hit the barn. The car was in reverse when the owner got back into the car. The owner put it back in park and shut vehicle off. The car was inspected, and was determined that they couldn't duplicate the incident. The owner has not called the manufacturer. The vehicle had minimal damage. There was property damage to the fan. The owner noted there was no one around the vehicle.
