1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2019

My car at times will give a hard start. Turning, but not fully turning over or gives off a sound that I can only describe as an elephant trumpeting. When it does start at times it will shut completely off just as fast. It hesitates to pick up adequate speed and will stumble or jerk, and when put in reverse it will completely stall out. I've had a new battery installed, and the spark plugs and boots have been changed, but to no avail.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2016

I have an 05 Expedition eddie bauer edition and the truck was shuddering and vibrating while on incline or driving. It also would hesitate upon acceleration. The next day the truck will only roll in reverse it will not drive forward and the "check electronic throttle control" message continues to pop up. Drove it and all of a sudden it wouldn't shift, and all gauges went flat, truck was still revving but gauges were at zero and the truck wouldn't move. I was going 60 mph. And it just stopped moving completely. Cannot drive the truck.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2015

Transmission bad ,paint come out some areas, replace all the spark plugs.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2015

My 15 year old son and my life were placed in serious danger, by the gross negligence and deceptive business practices promoted by the Ford motor company, regarding scan code p2106. Since as early as February 26, 2013 Ford motor company was made aware of a dangerous defect concerning the mechanical and electrical components of their manufactured product released to the consumer public for profit. The vehicles are Ford trucks, manufactured from 2003 - 2008, with the v8 5. 4 l engine. Public record reveals case no. 12-7222, jason schmidt, (plaintiff) vs. Ford motor company, (defendant) filed in the united states district court for the eastern district of pennsylvania, that Ford motor company is well aware of this issue. I believe that Ford motor company has made no attempts to inform Ford dealership owners, the Ford dealership managers or Ford service repair shop managers at the Ford dealerships and consumers who had already purchased their manufactured product of the issue. This issue is very dangerous, I was traveling 70 mph, with my son in the truck. Ford motor company has gone on record, via telephone conversation, explaining to me that; "Ford motor company has no control over how individual dealerships function or operate their establishment places of business, sorry. But I can take a complaint and be sure that the dealership receives it and provide you with a complaint number". Flammer Ford, spring hill, FL replaced a part and neglected to test drive the truck, released the vehicle to me and the part replaced was not what was wrong with the truck. I had my truck towed to autonation Ford in brooksville, FL for the same issue (p2106 code), they did the same thing, without replacing a thing. Only this time, while driving on a highway, my truck and the lost all power. My truck is back at autonation Ford in need of a new transmission.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2013

Driving on highway at about 60 mph changing lanes and a odb message appears "check electronic throttle control" and the car just shuts down. It was a life threatening moment for my family and I as a truck that was on coming from behind with speed had to slam on the brakes in order not to collide with me since I had no power to accelerate. I was only fortunate that the truck had a clear lane to change into abruptly. The electronic throttle message after further research is a wide spread know issue among Ford cars and I am livid and very angry that the NHTSA has not issued a recall on this know issue as it is public knowledge online. This needs to be addressed immediately to avoid any potential future tragedies. I hope Ford does not want blood on there hands!.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2013

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Ford experdition. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle sputtered when the gas was applied and then the vehicle stalled with the engine fail safe light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle did restart after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the electronic throttle body needed to be replaced to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired, however the vehicle still sputtered intermittently. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000. Rg.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2013

Driving in city traffic, at approximately 35 mph. The electronic throttle control light came on and engine died. We were able to coast to gas station. The vehicle started right up and everythings worked fine. The next day took vehicle to Ford dealership. After troubleshooting, they were not really sure of what was the problem. But they suggested changing the throttle body. We decided to take vehicle home. Vehicle worked fine until yesterday, the problem occurred again. This is an unsafe condition. There is a large about of e-mail traffic about this same problem, and Ford has not issued a recall.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2012

Warning light said electronic throttle control, this is the third time I have almost had a major accident and Ford tells me to call them when I have an accident or the code shows back up. They admit that they are aware of this issue but it must fail completely before it can be replaced under warranty or recall. Also the truck cuts out at 60mph and jerks until you speed up. They advised they are also aware of this problem and come back when it breaks down.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2011

I have a 2005 Expedition and have had a electronic throttle control failure on it twice in the last 10 months. Both cases happened while turning through a major intersection, the engine continued to run, but there was no connection between the gas pedal and the throttle (stepping on the gas had no effect). Luckily I was able to coast through the intersection and onto the shoulder without getting hit. The first occurrence was in Dec 2011, and it just happened again this morning (1 oct 2012), luckily I was driving and safely maneuvered out of harm¿s way. If it had been my wife and children in the vehicle, or if it had happened on the highway, it is highly likely that the outcome would have been much worse. There are many reports of this same failure on the internet. I will not let my wife and children ride in the vehicle tried to have fixed at the dealer in Dec 2011 and they had no idea how to fix it, just wanted to start replacing parts. Called the dealer again today and they had no other answer.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2011

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The mechanic stated that the transmission would have to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 149,000.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2010

2005 Ford Expedition "electronic throttle control" light will come on and the engine will stall. This will happen at any time, any speed and without warning. Unfortunately someone will have to be severely injured before Ford takes a look at this.

13 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2009

Transmission on 2005 Expedition is slipping. When the vehicle is placed into drive and the foot throttle is depressed the vehicle hesitates to move forward, but then jerks forward. Other times it seems like it doesn't want to upshift when driving on the freeway. I must also state that the paint on the tip of the hood and on the tailgate are starting to bubble /blister, the vehicle is only 5 years old and the paint is cared for through polishing and waxing twice a year.

14 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2009

My 05 Ford Expedition was recently in the shop several months back for electronic throttle issues. Tonight the check electronic throttle light came on and caused a total loss of acceleration. I put my hazards on and coasted to the side of the road. After turning off my engine and restarting my vehicle runs like normal again. Luckily it was very late at night and no other cars were around. This is potentially very dangerous if it occurs in fast moving traffic. I have researched this issue and see countless posts on internet forums from 05 Ford Expedition owners detailing my exact issue and temporary solution. When is this going to be officially acknowledged by Ford as a serious defect and recalled?.

15 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2009

2005 Ford Expedition was stopped at stop sign. "check electronic throttle control" message was displayed on message center, along with an annunciating "ding". Engine continued to run, but accelerator pedal was completely dead. Shut off ignition and restarted vehicle, and accelerator control returned to normal. There was one occurrence so far.

16 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2009

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Expedition. When he attempted to drive the fail safe mode warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel, and then the vehicle stalled. The throttle also disengaged, which caused the vehicle to drive in neutral gear. He usually has to restart the vehicle to resume normal operation. No repairs were made. The failure mileage was 51,195. The current mileage was 61,000.

17 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2008

"check electronic throttle" message appeared and accelerator pedal became inoperative. This is the second time this has occurred. Shifted vehicle into neutral, restarted engine while rolling along and error was corrected.

18 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2008

"check electronic throttle" message appeared and accelerator pedal became unresponsive in traffic. Pulled over, restarted engine and issue corrected itself.

19 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2006

First time it occurred I was traveling to work the car stalled while driving approx. 20 mph and there was no control of the car - was able to move to side of road and restart. Fault on the console was "electronic throttle". Has happen approx 4 more times at various speeds and conditions with three different drivers. No problem ever found by dealer. Has happened at high speed on the freeway complete loss of steering and power occurs more concerning it can happen at any time without warning. I find this to be extremely dangerous and a death trap waiting to happen. The last time it occurred when by teenage daughter was driving she was scared to death refusing to drive it home. This reminded me of Toyota prius so I took it upon myself to report my incidents. Looking at the internet I now find it occurs frequently and it is not an isolated case.
