1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2026

The transmission is malfunctioning. The shifting in the gears has become rough with kick or clunk feeling. This happens when increasing speed and decreasing speed. The transmission has even gotten stuck in 2nd, and 4th gears. Our safety was at risk because when the gears were stuck the vehicle would not increase in speed, in the flow if traffic. The transmission has been inspected by 3 transmission mechanic shops, and has been confirmed by all 3. There have not been warning signs or lights on the dashboard to alert us of the problem. This appears to be random and out of the blue. The truck is available for inspection upon request.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2014

Transmisin problem bery noise when driving and press gas. Sometimes when is parked it moves like 12" . Ac always a problem toke to mecanic at lease 10 times I'm so tired if this.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2011

The 2010 Ford Expedition was parked in a driveway not on an incline. While in park it rolled backwards across a street and crashed into a tree. After the incident it was determined that with the engine turned off and the key removed the car could be put into any gear. It was further determined that the key could be removed with the engine off and the car in drive or any other gear.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2011

When attempting to pass another vehicle without warning the truck will not accelerate causing a hazardous situation. The transmission will attempt to shift into passing gear and the engine will increase in rpm but there is no increase in speed. After a few seconds there is a mild bang and shudder when you let off the foot pedal. There is no way to accelerate enough to pass the vehicle you're attempting to pass unless they slow down for you so the only option is to coast and resume your position behind the vehicle you were attempting to pass. This has now happened at least 3 times that I remember. Unfortunately it only needs to happen once in the wrong situation to have potentially deadly consequences. I have retuned the vehicle to the dealership and have been advised the transmission software needs to be updated. I've done this twice and now it appears to be needed again after only 3 or 4 months. In addition, while it is not a safety issue, the low speed operation of the transmission is erratic. The software updates seem to address this issue but only for a short time. I can live with the low speed issue, the lack of passing ability is a huge safety issue to me at least.
