1 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2025

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, while depressing the brake pedal, there was no resistance, requiring the contact to depress the pedal forcefully to slow down the vehicle, with the message "low brake fluid" displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was advised that the brake master cylinder, brake booster, and the vacuum sensor were faulty and was possibly the cause for the failure. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder, brake booster, and the vacuum sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 65,744.

2 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2021

Brake master cylinder failed causing brake fluid in the brake booster and little to no breaking at freeway speeds. There is a current recall on same model year f150 with the same 3. 5l eco boost engine manufactured out of the same plant as our Expedition. Took off the master cylinder and the brake booster was filled with brake fluid. SUV has aprox 67k miles.

3 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2021

The brake system went out while driving my 2017 Ford Expedition on the freeway. The warning light came on indicating low brake fluid. Was able to slowly make it to the nearest service station, as brakes completely failed, pedal to the floor. After some research there is a recall on the master brake cylinder and brake booster system on the f150 ecoboost. Nhtsa campaign number: 20v-332. Ford's reference number for this recall is 20s31. The my Expedition has they same issue . The f150 and Expedition are the same under the hood. The vehicle is safety hazard due to this issue.

4 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2021

Total brake failure while backing up , almost hit another vehicle, shifted to forward to avoid accident , loss of brake fluid in master cylinder to brake booster. Exact symptoms as recall 20s31 with 2014 to 2017 f150. The Expedition is on af150 chassis . According to dealer not under recall but probably should be. Out of warranty. Repaired on my dime. Replaced master cylinder and cleaned booster. Vehicle was in motion at time of incident. Just glad I wasn't on the boat ramp or highway.
