My locks have failed on my vehicle due to water intrusion into the fuse module. The passenger door locks will not engage and the rear hatch and window locks will not disengage. Dealer service has indicated this is a problem that occurs 2-3 times a year with my make and model vehicle. During a crash the doors to my vehicle could open and subject the occupant to injury. All told this repair will cost over $1000.

The child safety door locks on the rear doors of our 1997 Ford Expedition will gradually move themselves from the off to the on position, preventing the rear passengers from being able to exit without someone opening the door from the outside. Have attempted to tape the locks in the off position, but this has not worked.
I have a 2008 Ford Expedition with aluminum corrosion issues. I was at a body shop yesterday and he noticed that the hood latch had a lot of corrosion around the bolts and said it could eventually let go and the hood could fly open. Why would this be happening to such a new vehicle? Ford says this is not covered.

My wife reached down to pick up a toy our granddaughter had dropped. Wind blew car door closed, and retractable running board retracted catching my wife's arm. She could not free herself. She sustained bruising to her arm.
There is a safety defect with the child safety locks on the rear drivers side and passenger side doors of my 1997 Ford Expedition. The child safety locks will gradually move themselves from the off position to the on position as vehicle is driven and doors are opened and closed. The passenger(s) occupying the rear seat will be unable to open their doors without help from someone outside the vehicle. The problem started about 5 years ago and is usually noticed more often while we are traveling and our teenage sons are getting in and out of the vehicle for rest stops, etc.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Expedition. The contact noticed that both of the rear child safety locks were inoperative in her vehicle. The vehicle has not been repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 200,000 and current mileage was 334,000.
Have a Ford Expedition. The 2nd row, middle seat will not stay in a locked upright position. Notified Ford, as this is a serious safety infraction. Any child or adult could be seriously harmed in the event of an accident, as the seat would collapse forward. Ford claims the part which controls the latching of the seat into an upright position (known as a seat handle release) is trim and therefore uncovered by warranty. This is not an issue of fixing a door handle or a cracked piece of plastic, but to correct a safety concern that could cause damage in the event of an accident. Repeated phone calls to Ford has yielded no results and while the Ford employees I spoke with concur that the issue is a safety concern, they are unwilling to re-categorize the part or allow the part to be covered under warranty.
We own a 2003 Ford Expedition. The child-lock on driver side stays in the locked position and the door has to be manually opened from exterior. The same door will only lock manually and not by automation. Causing my children not to want to sit by that door out of fear of not being able to get out in an emergency.
Child safety lock. Lock atomically engages preventing opening the door from the inside.
The contact owns a 1997 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the child safety lock was defective. His children are at the age where they should be able to unlock the door from inside the passenger compartment, without the contact having to open the door from the outside. The manufacturer took a compliant; however, they stated that they did not have enough complaints to issue a recall. The vehicle will be taken to the dealer for a diagnosis. The failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 197,000.
While checking front suspension consumer observed that driver's side linkages broke. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not covered under a recall. Please provide further information.

Door ajar light comes on and stays on intermently. I had this same issue with my 1995 Ford ranger. On both vehicles the door latch mechanism was replaced and fix the problem temporarily. The issue returns with oem replace part. Mechanic mentioned that the Ford motor company uses a very thick lubricant on the mechanism causing the issue. I now just live with the issue as I am not going to keep spending my money on latch mechanism that keeps going bad. The only issue is the interior lights stay on until the delay out 45 seconds later. This seems to be a recurring issue with Ford vehicles across multiple makes of vehicles. I have complained to Ford directly.
1997 Ford Expedition. Rear child door locks. One side eventually locks by itself. Rear occupants cannot get out, must open door from outside. Dealer said nothing wrong with it and no recall. After 8 years my kids did not require them and I tied them open with wire.
When door lock switch is depressed the locks fail to respond. Consumer must push the door lock down manually for system to engage. Manually locking doors would cause the locking system to acknowledge that a door is open. The switch has been replaced three times.
