Vehicle was bought new from a dealership mid December, due to second set of twins due mid March. Attempted to have graco 4ever child car seats installed by safe kids (organization to keep kids safe) but inspection failed due to 3rd row seating headrest engineering design major defect. 3rd row electric fold down seats do not allow for headrest removal except for the middle seat leaving excessive space between seat and back of forward facing car seat making it unsafe as there is no contact between seat and car seat. Corporate Ford was contacted by phone 5x regarding this issue and they are unable to help in this situation as seats are "functioning normally" per manufacturer specifications. With less than 3 wks before the due date approaching, we scrambled and brought the vehicle to the local dealership in which they indicated it is illegal for an adult to ride in a vehicle without a headrest and they were shocked in the poor design. Ford needs their engineering team to immediately resolve this issue, as another complaint was filed with NHTSA in January regarding this same issue. They need to cover the cost to have dealership remove the headrests manually ($600 estimate) by tearing apart the seats or have a list of forward facing car seats that actually work for the 3rd row in which the cost to us would probably be a wash for new seats if there are any that work for it! this is not a family vehicle for anyone still in car seats or boosters and there is no way I would have purchased this vehicle knowing this ahead of time by reading a previous complaint on the matter. $80k vehicle that seats a family of 5 with toddlers not 6 or greater.

About 2 - 2 1/2 years ago we laid are middle seat down in the middle row of are Expedition to make ease of are dogs getting in and out of the vehicle. But now I'm in the process of putting the seat up to go travel, but I am having concerns about the seat considering the seat will not re-latch in the up right position, to make it capable of holding 8 people total in the vehicle safely. The local shop doesn't have a clue but does agree its a safety hazard in a way. The only solution they can think of is to replace out what ever part that is bad and then go from there, pricing on part alone is ranging as high as 650 dollars for everything minus labor fees.

We purchased a new 2007 inaugural model of the Expedition el. Our vehicle seats 8 and we are a family of 7. One middle seat is generally folded out of use, occasionally used for a child, rarely used for an adult. While on a day trip in March my average sized brother sat in the right side of the middle row seats. Throughout our trip the seat back would not hold to support him and was repeatedly flying backward. This is how we discovered the problem. Were there to be an accident not only would the seat not hold to protect the passenger it could actually cause serious injury or death because of this defect. This vehicle is only a few years old and has been used with normal family wear and tear. It has not been abused in any way. We do not know if this is a failed/defective part affecting this one seat in our vehicle or if there is something structurally unsound in the seat design of the Expedition. We have contacted Ford regarding the issue and they tell us they are committed to safety and share our concern yet will do nothing about it because the new vehicle warranty is no longer in effect. This answer is unacceptable and they are using empty words. My father was killed in a car accident and I have 5 children that I drive around daily. Safety is my number one priority in a vehicle. I am concerned primarily for the safety of my own family but also all those on the road. Please help me resolve this issue with Ford. It is a very expensive repair which I think Ford is responsible for but furthermore they are showing a very careless attitude regarding a serious safety issue which may affect more than simply our own vehicle. Thank you for your assistance with this matter and for all you do to ensure safety on the road. Sincerely, christine ellis.

The vehicle (2006 Ford Expedition - eddie bauer) has had for the last 8 months of purchasing it, grinding noise to the start when it does start and this happens about 4-5 times a week, driver side window rattles and screeches when rolled up and down, the back seats rattle, the back glass leaks. The vehicle has been taken to the shop a total of 5 times and was worked on the second time and after that they can't duplicate the problem any more but the problem is still there. They don't, won't or want to work on it anymore. We want a replacement or re-purchase of the vehicle.

Vehice had water in the back seat. There was water leaking from the top of the ceiling down to the seat. This was dangerous considering that the dvd player was near where the water was leaking.

The third row seats are power seats. The seats should have no movement if an obstruction occurred, but failed to do so, and the child's leg became caught in the seat. The consumers twin sons climbed over the seat into the back. One child was next to the 3rd row seat with his leg and knee next to the window and the other child pushed the power seat button when the other child's leg had became stuck. (the owners manual stated that the seats would stop within 1-10 seconds of an obstruction).

Four year child showed positive signs of suffocation after being crushed by the folding third row seat in the Ford Expedition. The seat had been in for repairs before because it would fold without the use of the switch. (this complaint was sent in by the fire captain on behalf of the customer lowell sabisage. ).
I am a fire captain with the city of vallejo. My company treated a patient that was crushed between the electric folding 3rd row seat of a 2003 Ford Expedition eb. The child was 4 years old and showed positive signs of near suffication. The seat was checked after patient treatment and it would not stop folding when we attempted to stop it using our hand to push against it's force. The owner of the vehicle (lowell sabisage of 176 coloma way, vallejo California 94589) stated that the seat had been in for repair in the past because it would fold up without the switch being pushed. According to others on scene, the seat again folded up without the button being pushed. My concern is that other children are at risk of similar injuries. Lucky for this child an adult came out to check on her and found her being crushed by the seat. Please follow up with this incident. The vehicle VIN # is 1fmfu18l43la41880. Vallejo police made a report of the above incident. There report number is 04-8609.
Consumer states that the rear seat moves back and forward, stating that the seat is not on tracks properly. Causing a child to almost flip out of the seat when exiting the vehical.
Upon impact, rear third seat dislogged in the air, hitting the roof and thrusted foward. If my children would have been sitting there, which the third seat is used mostly by children, they would have been fatally injured. This needs to be recalled, as this is clearly unsafe.
