Two problems related to tank filler pipe and cap have been reported for the 1997 Ford Explorer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer indicated the gas tank cap was not tightened securely, which caused the engine light to illuminate.
Fuel filler does not have a ground strap which caused a build up of static electricity and resulted in a fire.
