Front Suspension Control Arm problems of the 1998 Ford Explorer

Two problems related to front suspension control arm have been reported for the 1998 Ford Explorer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2003

The upper ball joints and lower ball joints were warped.

2 Front Suspension Control Arm problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2001

The truck's ball joint and suspension was lose starting at 30,000 miles. Replaced 10 months later by dealer. Truck difficult to control during this time, but we thought it was the recalled tires.
