Two problems related to rear suspension leaf spring have been reported for the 1998 Ford Explorer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Left rear spring assembly failed.
When a load is placed in the cargo area the rear end sags terribly. In addition, while driving 25 mph rear axle jumps/hops, making it very difficult to control vehicle.
