One problem related to hatchback/liftgate lock has been reported for the 1999 Ford Explorer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The door failed to lock properly if not manually pushed down and locked. The hatchback door would pop open if not manually locked. Took vehicle to dealership, and mechanic was unable to resolve the problem.
