Six problems related to hood latch have been reported for the 1999 Ford Explorer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl the contact owns a 1999 Ford Explorer. While driving 75 mph, the hood opened and cracked the front windshield. The contact pulled the vehicle over and tied the hood down. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact also stated that, while driving, the speed control would engage or not engage without warning. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Consumer went to get an oil change and hood would not open. Vehicle needs a new latch for the hood. Consumer has made contact with the dealer.
After seeing information about recalls, inspected the tires and found out that left rear tire had three cuts on it. Consumer was concerned. Firestone, wilderness, p235/75 r15, dot vd. Cruise control malfunctioned. Hood latch was loose. Windshield wiper malfunctioned.
Received a manufacturer's recall notice# 99s-18 for hood latch secondary; called for a appointment / reported for appointment, waited two hours, and was informed that no parts were available, and they would contact them when parts were made available; no words were received at this time. Asking NHTSA to look into this matter or provide additional information.
Consumer brought vehicle in for recall repairs (99v164) for a whole day which was not done due to scheduling differences.
Consumer is having difficulty receiving recall repairs (99s09 99v-062) not completed due to lack of parts, (99s18 99v-164) due to scheduling problems with the dealership. Mjs.
