1 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2002 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while traveling less than 5 mph, the vehicles throttle became stuck with no warning which caused the vehicle to accelerate to a speed above 40 mph. The vehicle crashed thru a fence and into the rear of a motor home causing the front driver¿s side tire to fracture. The air bags did not deploy. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 09v399000 (vehicle speed control). The contact sustained whiplash, neck and back pains from the failure. A police incident report was filed and the vehicle was to be towed to a yard until it would be able to get inspected and diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 194,000. Pam.

2 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2006

2002 Ford Explorer- spouse almost seriously injured when the gas pedal throttle was stuck and would not release. Car lunged out of control. Slamming brakes only slowed it but did not stop it.

3 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2004

While driving 50 mph, the throttle pedal became stuck in the open position. The driver slammed on the brakes but the vehicle continued to accelerate up to 65 mph. The driver tapped on the throttle pedal until it released and was able to stop the vehicle without incident. The dealer mechanic could not determine the cause of the problem but will further assess the problem by trying to duplicate the problem.
