Eddie bauer v8 2006 Explorer 107000 miles the abs and srv lights came off. The car was stuck to the ground and would not speed at all. Got a mechanic to check and many different codes showed up. In the past when the same lights came up I took the car to a Ford dealer and they found nothing. They recommended to change the front tires but they couldn't find any problems. For what I know it seems the Ford Explorer has a lot of problems and Ford refuses to do a recall to fix it.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, a grinding and metal to metal noise sounded outside of the vehicle even though the brake pedal was not depressed. The wrench symbol illuminated. In addition, the 4-wheel drive, traction control and abs warning lights illuminated continuously. The brakes then seized independently. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and after numerous attempts the brakes began to function. The vehicle was driven to the residence with caution. The vehicle had not ben diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure failure mileage was 150,000. Js.
Brakes shuttered and make awful racket when trying to stop. Abs and esc light came on. Took it to Ford house and was told a rear "exciter ring" had broken and would need to be replaced at $380.
I started to drive my vehicle from the parked position my abs light came on and then my a grinding sound came from my front left and a jerking motion began happening to my vehicle. The grinding noise and jerking motioned happened for about 20 seconds. My abs light and traction light began flashing and stayed on permanently with a wrench light on the dash board.
When I was driving, 3 dashboard lights came the wrench, the abs light, and the low traction. When I turned left, the right rear wheel grabbed and made a grinding sound. There was also a higher pitched noise that sounded like metal striking metal. The mechanic has stated that the tone ring broke on the right rear drive axle, and this is a common Ford problem. When it broke, it damaged the brake unit on my right rear wheel as well. The repair isn't cheap - I wish I would have known this was a possibility when I bought the vehicle.
Abs light appeared , followed by anti skid light , now with wrench flashing , on a 2006 Ford Explorer , causes it to drive terrible on gravel , all this after the transmission and throttle body had to be replaced in the last six months, my car has 80,000 miles and drives like its 20 years old and about that reliable. Light has been on over a week.
