1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2019

I have now had 2 problems with this dealership, and personally I believe everyone deserves second chances, the first vehicle the seller sold me had major issues with gas tank had a hole in it and exposed wires right next to it so that truck was a ticking time bomb, now I have a 2006 Ford Explorer with more issues but again the seller makes its seem like a pretty reliable car and lies about the issues, covers up the stories and thank god my buddy is a mechanic and I take everything I buy to him, when I first received the car, (as many people not many people know anything as soon as they hear a weird noise) I took it to him and he rides with me and notices some major issues, I took it for a drive and the back suspension was going out (got that replaced) then the transmission slipping , like not only was lied to but now having to pay 2000$ just to keep the car running, not suitable for me nor anyone, I feel bad for whoever this seller also lies to. And I am fully aware that someone could get their license revoked for stuff like this, if anyone with clear eyes can see this seller screws people over. I texted the guy about returning the vehicle and just to get my money back but yet again no answer.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2016

Driving down the hwy the powertrain malfunction indicator came on. I lost all use of the fuel pedal and brake. Had to get to the side of the hwy with out dying. If I turn the car off and back on the indicator is gone and works just fine. This situation has happened at least 5 times in the last 3 months. Nothing shows up when I plug in a code reader.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2015

Took this vehicle to my Ford dealer where I bought it and they put on a new master braking cyclinder and the brake pedal still goes to the floor. Ford dealer does not know where the problem is to be able to fix it and Ford motors is aware of this problem and doing nothing about it at all.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2014

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the brakes seized. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact shut off the vehicle and was able to restart it five minutes later. The failure occurred on five different occasions. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was unknown.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2013

We bought this used from a used car dealership. The very next day I noticed while driving the engine just shut off. Couple months later the same thing happened and has continued to happen often. Last week I was driving 45 mph on a highway in the rain and lost all control of the vehicle. The brakes didn't work, the steering didn't work, the entire car shut down, I had a panic attack because I was in traffic and almost caused a hugh accident with other vehicles. I put on the hazzards and finally was able to drift into a the middle of the road called the turning lane. I called the dealership many times and have only been told "we are sorry". I tried calling a lemon law lawyer but was told, sorry, if the truck was a 2007 then I would have a case. So, now what do I do? I have a 10,000 car loan for a vehicle that I am frightened to drive anywhere. Please help me.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2013

Upon starting the vehicle it suddenly excelerates. I now keep my foot on the brake at all times immediately following ignition. It has has happened four or five times in the last several months. I have owned the vehicle since 2007 when I purchased it from ocala Lincoln Mercury as a Ford certified vehicle. It had approximately 14,000. Today it has only 54,230 mostly highway. That is less than 7000 miles per year. Itr has regular services at my local for dealer. All of my repair records are obtainable through the Ford motor company.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2012

Most of the time, my 2006 Ford Explorer v8 will jerk forward very hard when stopping. This usually happens when I approach stops signs or stop lights. It feels like I've been rear-ended because of how hard the jolt is. This could cause me to strike another vehicle or crash into a wall if parking inside a structure. The vehicle also sometimes jerks very hard forward when accelerating from a stop. After researching online, this issue appears to be a major problem that Ford knows about, and apparently has done nothing to fix it.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

Engine stalls. Whenever it feels like it, hot or cold, slowing down to stop, turning left or right, on the street roads and freeways. Starts and go again after 5/10 minutes but this is ridiculous. I paid so much money and time for diagnostic and parts already and yesterday was the worst. My 2006 Ford Explorer stalled in the middle of the freeway. Date: Nov 1, 2011, time:1550, and my wife was driving, when she's not happy, nobody's happy. . . . She almost got ran over as she open her door, she could not go anywhere but wait for time to either cool off or reset on the engine.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2010

On two occasions (may 2009 and now June 2010) a tone ring in my 2006 Ford Explorer's abs/traction control system broke. It caused the traction control and brakes to go haywire. They began to grab and lock my brakes when I was moving causing erratic driving. When I went to stop, my brakes did not work properly. I have read on Ford forums that this is an ongoing issue with numerous Ford Explorer owners.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2010

I had just left the gym when my 2006 Explorer almost caused an accident. During acceleration while making a right hand turn from a stop light, the car stopped abruptly as if I were slamming on the brakes. I was not applying the brakes at all, I was actually trying to accelerate. The brakes were stopping the vehicle rapidly without my input. I was very close to being rear ended. I decided to pull the car to a safe spot and while I was trying to turn into a parking lot, the car decided to stop itself, almost getting me rear ended again. I had the Explorer towed to the nearest dealer where repairs were performed at the tune of $423. 78. The abs tone ring had cracked, causing the system to stop the car. I still have the old broken tone ring. I am almost nervous driving the thing at higher speeds for fear of what might happen if it brakes again. Would the SUV roll or cause a bad accident if the brakes were applied so violently at highway speeds without any driver input?.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2009

When I hit the brakes in an emergency, and sometimes at other times, my foot strikes the gas pedal too causing the motor to rev up and not stop timely which has caused me to almost have a serious accident on at 3 occasions. I have had it checked and Ford motor CO says they have heard of the problem before but there is nothing they can do about it and it causes me great safety concerns. Once a semi truck pulled out in front of me on a highway and I barely avoided an accident as the force of the motor would not let the brakes have full effect.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2009

The problem is with a 2006 Ford Explorer. Everytime I start the car or get ready to pull out the motor revs up. Thankfully I have had my foot on the brake or else I would have been hit because my car would have went out into traffic. This is something that happens on a daily basis. So far I have not been involved in an accident but if ever I do not have my foot on the brake there is a great chance there will be. This is only one of the problems I am facing with my Explorer.
